I've met some Kenyan folk. It was depressing to hear them talk desu. They said as immigrants they'll never be respected as long as none of their home countries command respect.

You're entirely correct. All of my black friends in the USA are first or second gen immigrants from Africa, primarily Nigeria and Kenya. They are fantastic and usually intelligent people.

American blacks who are descended from slaves have been here since the 1600s. They're usually very obnoxious, loud, and ignorant. The latter characteristic isn't necessarily a negative since everyone is ignorant about something in their lives, but what makes it unique is that they're proud of their ignorance and insult anyone who tries to learn. They call it "acting white."

Meanwhile first generation Nigerians here are "acting white" and are incredibly successful in business and science. Go figure.
