we're middle class. dad works in government, so they provide housing which is a huge burden off the shoulder.

yes, we do have a cleaning maid. she comes every day to broom the house, wipe the floor and clean the toilet, we pay her about 750 INR a month, but she gets paid from other houses as well.

I've had maids for as long as I can remember. I've had multiple live-in maids throughout my life. Currently, we have one maid that comes everyday of the week. She cleans the house (sweeping and mopping the floor) and she does the dishes. On Sundays, we have a much better maid. We've had her for years but now she can't come everyday (hence the other maid). She comes once a week. Thoroughly cleans the house, the bathrooms, sometimes cooks dinners, etc.
So essentially we have two maids. One who comes everyday and does a mediocre job. And another one who comes once a week and does an excellent job. No idea how much we pay them though.

We also have a live-in maid back at my native places. My grandparents are getting older so she looks after them.
