1st of all, it is not castillians problem, it is an internal catalan problem. The independentist are not the 50% of the population. Independentist movement is a recent development, its origin is in late XIX, and during last years has been promoted by the local elite (the one who rule the autonomous region), they have been using the democratic tools to appear somewhat the majority, try to ban spanish everywhere, and to achieve total control of the catalan society.
Last year, before the referendum the regional elite approved a law that almost bypass the constitution, witht not enough votes to even change the catalan parliament rules.
It is very strange because the regional parliment is granted by the constitution, and the regional parliment try to bypass it...
Historically Catalonia has been part of Aragon kingdom, and the Aragon Kingdom has been joined with Castilla since the Catholic kings.
Memes aside the independentist must negotiate and try to let live in peace the not independentist catalan.
