On 9/11 I was in highschool orientation, principal walked in and told the story to us and I thought it was confusing because he just said "both world center towers got crashed into" and he didn't say it was on purpose so I couldn't figure out how 2 planes would accidentally crash so close to one another. Bad weather? Malfunction in plane?

Rest of the day the story came out, everyone was really excited and chatting about it, whats gonna happen next, if we would be attacked too, etc. Lots of buzz about how their second attack would be way bigger and would totally target highschools this time. German class teacher turned on the news and we watched that. I was disappointed that they already knew who did it I was hoping it would be a cool mystery but instead its this ugly middle eastern guy. Next day was a super patriotic day, the kids all asked if we could say the Pledge of Allegiance when we were in parenting class, so we did we all stood up

Said the words for the first time since elementary school

Week stretched into months and the fabled second attack never ever came. It was a big nothing. We bombed some countries and still nothing. The end.

I was like 5 at the time trying to figure out why I never saw the planes hitting the towers in person when I was in Iraq
