Greeco-Buddhism

before the Arab conquests the area that is now Pakistan,Afghanistan and Tajikistan followed mostly Greeco-Buddhism,Hinduism,Zoroastrianism and some who followed classical Hellenistic religions

Greeco-Buddhism was a product of the Hellenization of the area that is now Pakistan and Afghanistan due to Alexanders conquest being isolated from the Greek homeland and mixing in with rising popular religion

there was nothing like this in the world and then the Arabs and destroyed all the Temples they could find, killed all the Monks and forced us to be Muslims

the people would be saying Mathura instead of Mashallah without islamization XD

It's very depressing because it is such a beautiful unique faith in the region
Afghanistan was a renowned enlightened region before Islam invasion

This.
Curse of this region is location, not religion.

whats funny to me is that the Greek-Indian Kingdoms are the reasons Buddhism even reached East Asia
they were located western South Asia and lower Central Asia
they eventually spread further to Central Asia eventually reaching East Asia (China, Korea, Japan, Siberia, and Vietnam. )

It flourished under Muslim rule too you faggot

Wait so Buddhism has its roots in Pakistan/ Afghanistan?

t. Ahmed
not roots but several major buddhist missionaries were Afghan/Persian

as I explained here Buddhism originated in Nepal but still was kinda like an underground religion
Ashoka an Indian Emperor converted to Buddhism and tried to spread the religion
by building temples,monuments and such
eventually this this spread to the Indo-Greek Kingdoms
who adopted Buddhism as their main religion and thus spreading to central Asia and eventuality East Asia

yey

>followed mostly Greeco-Buddhism
but that is not a religion or a system of believes
more like an art style

Why did these shitty desert religion(judaism trilogy) have to exist? They are the worst.

Other pagan religions are probably equally savage, if not more so. They just can't commit evils because they're powerless and weak, but don't for a second think human nature would change just because one religion is dominant while another isn't.

I am more hoping that buddhism would have spread around instead. Pagan religions were not superb either. The problem with the desert ones is that they are so definite/decided on everything.

both christianity and islam are international, buddhism is international too, that's the secret of their power, they allowed people to create international political unions by providing them with the international cultural space, most of the religions are strongly nationality based so while they unite a single nation they are less, ugh, politically profitable than established international religions. international religions generally avoid a true pantheon i.e. they aren't pagan since pagan gods are usually too much nationally-inclusive, hence the popularity of the abrahamic religions with their idea if a single universal god (that idea might exist in some pagan religions too but see further) that ain't needs any pantheon of the lesser gids

he's talking about history

Alexanders the Great Empire
when he died the Empire was split between his Generals
each one and their families holding power in an area of the world thousands of Kilometers away from Greece
