Compare it to modern translations. You will find that they have been made to serve certain agendas.

Look at the NIV for instance, there is a reason it is the only Bible that Jehovah's Witnesses will hand out because it lines up with their heretical doctrine. They can give it to you and point you to things that fit perfectly with their beliefs.

The KJV has served the Christian faithful for over 400 years. It is undoubtedly the most beautiful thing ever written. No other translation can compare.

You don't get that out of a plain reading. You only get that if you pre-suppose Calvinism.

It can be beautiful and it won't lead you astray if you read it honestly, I just think trying to get over some of the obsolete language and grammar can be a hindrance to plain understanding.

I think it honestly ends up being the same.

In a Calvinist church if someone seems to be a christian for years and does all the right things until one day he "snaps" and murders someone or runs off with the pastor's wife, they'll just say he was never saved in the first place and was living a lie. In a non-Calvinist church they'll say he fell away.

I thought all churches were like Pentecostal churches until I was a teenager. I went to a baptist church once and everyone was sitting quietly. There was only one guy standing with his hands raised and he was all the way in the back.
It was weird.
I don't think I'll ever be able to seriously attend anything other than Church of God churches.
I don't mind other denominations though except for Oneness Pentecostals. They don't believe in the Trinity, baptize in Jesus name and not the trinity, and they think you have to speak in tongues as a requirement for salvation.
