Someone explain this meme to me. I really like Oslo, it's a cool city. Warm summers and winters with lots of snow and winter activities. Green, clean, nice parks, forests everywhere, accessible coastline. Great public transport, short distances between attractions, cool cultural area down in Björvika, close to Sweden (and pretty close to Denmark with cheap ferry). If you're used to living in a city, Oslo is the only option in Norway. Most city folk wouldn't be happy on the countryside. Oslo also scores among the the safest cities in the world in pretty much all comparisons, so you seem to be fearmongering. As long as you stay out of the bad areas of the city, like you do in any city, you'll be fine.

If the choice is between Norway and Australia i'd go with Norway any day m8.
Some prices will go up, mainly cars and other transport, food, and alcohol.
But other than that. Nicer weather than the furnace of Australia.
Better wages and overall standards (despite no minimum wage).
Schools and healthcare isn't great but it's not my impression Australian is either. If Australian education is anything like the rest of the anglosphere, Norway is a huge upgrade despite our schools being garbage. This isn't the Sweden with their gender insanity.
The density of mudslimes you'll see will depend heavily on where you go. Around Oslo/Drammen they teem, but go beyond that and it's whiter than white.
