if you want to make it Romantic, Budapest is likely your best bet, its the tourist capital for a reason. Stick to the non-touristy areas, maybe a tour if you feel like it. Visit the river and bridges at night, maybe cross into margit sziget and go for a walk. The baths would also be nice in January, try and find some outdoor mineral baths, maybe Hévíz if it stays open through winter.

You have a point. It's like an unspoken rule that non-tourist areas offer better scenery and you mostly have your own peace.

Taking a walk around Budapest and the rivers in January would be amazing, quite a nice memory for years.

I like your response, I'll be sure to take it in consideration, thanks

Lake Balaton? Dunno what the weather will be like.

Pécs is really nice, one of my favourite towns in Hungary - you can easily spend there three-four days. As far as southern towns near the border with Croatia go, Szekszárd, Kaposvár, and Harkány are nice.

Just looked the cities up, they do seem real nice. Would be amazing to see them in winter during snowfall

>It's like an unspoken rule that non-tourist areas offer better scenery
lmao, the only thing you're going to find in our non-touristy areas are commie blocks, gypsies and alcoholic pensioners

also, you stated in the OP that you have no money. well, tough shit then, because Budapest is a fucking expensive city by eastern European standards, especially the accomodation

you can do plenty of romantic things in Pécs as well, like visit the zoo, climb the TV tower, stroll along the old City Walls, check out the Ancient Christian catacombs, or visit the nearby spa of Harkány, so I'd say you stick to that.

gypsy shithole just like everything south to the balaton

no problem, I was visiting family there in the summer a few years back, and even then the throngs of people were mostly confined to the big things like the Hősök Plaza, Matthias Church and Buda castle, all of which are worth visiting, but are also a bit more populous.

The thing with Hungary is that Budapest is by far where most of the development money has gone in the country. There are still beautiful places to visit that have charm, like Hortobágy, Szeged (for the halászlé), Pécs or Győr, but they don't quite have that romanticist charm that Budapest has (as a tourist, not necessarily a resident).

If you want to go full romantic, I would recommend
>walk along the riverside on the Buda side, so you can see Pest below
>cross the bridges, visit Margitsziget
>Boat cruise at night
>Cafés in the morning
>maybe a bar at night, if you two are into that. Maybe a nice kocsma (small bar style) instead of a nightclub
>mineral baths. The budapest ones mught be crowded, see if you can find something outside the city or in the local areas

The big issue is that Budapest costs money. Not necessarily by Western euro standards, but its still more than shit would cost in Zalaegerezeg or some shit, Id advise planning out a budget and keeping it instead of spending willy-nilly.

Heres a bunch of korean thots visiting budapest in some k-pop tv show

Well actually, you'd say that for Croatia, but in reality the less touristy areas, in my experience, provided the best memories because the mentality and the places are left intact. It's rather nice to see small towns and villages as they are, kinda special.

I didn't mean to stay overnight anyway, so Budapest might be an option. We'll see.

But yeah, as you say Pecs can also offer romantic things, so it's best to stick to that since I'm a driver with not much experience and driving to Budapest would be quite hard.

Oh dude that would be amazing, the only problem is money. If I muster enough I'll be sure to take her to Budapest, you've talked me into it. I can only imagine how beautiful it is in winter.

Well, since the money will be the problem, eating and spending more time outside Budapest or local areas is sure to be a nice thing. For example take a night stroll around Budapest and drive around the local areas later for a dinner or a simple warm chocolate.

I can't fuckin' wait.

good luck, just don't spend too much unless you know you're going to keep her, because if you pull it off, women remember this shit for life. My grandmother had a stroke and forgot a lot, but she still talks about her trip to Budapest with my grandfather in the 60s before they left.

That said, don't bankrupt yourself if you don't have to. The famous cafés will charge you an arm and a leg for lukewarm coffee, but if you go to a smaller shop that serves mostly locals, you can find decent prices. I'd say ask around any people who might live in the area, maybe try the apple threads when they're not full of shitposting (no guarantees). /v4/ may also help on a good day to find some smaller places.

Also, if you liked that tour video, go check out Anthony Bourdain's Parts Unknown episode on Budapest. It conveys the feel kf the citu much better. It should be on netflix, or at least a torrent site.

Thanks mate, you've helped me out. I'll make sure to make it the best I can, even if we just walk around Pecs.

Will make sure to watch it, it's gotta be somewhere.

make sure that you check out the Zsolnay District in Pécs, it's a former factory complex-turned-cultural venue from where the famous Zsolnay ceramic tiles originate from, of which the city's rooftops are completely full

Well, Peč means oven in our language(s) and Italians look Jewish. Do the math!

Pécs is an arabic city. Prepare to pay jizya there. I would advise you to visit Siklós or Szigetvár. Both have nice castles and white people. Also Southern Transdunabia has no culture apart Croats and Germans larping as Hungarians.

as for places to eat and drink, I can recommend Kisülés Kávézó, Korhely Restaurant, Király21 BBQ, Nappali Bar, Csinos Ruin Bar, Made in Pécs, Lezser Bárkonyha, and Főtér Bar

Enjoy watching her get raped by thirsty hungarians.
