I'm the least picky eater in the world and I would eat them all if I had no superior alternative at hand, but I gotta say fries in a sandwich tastes like shit. The soft, spongy and cold texture of the bread with the crunchy, hard, hot texture of the fry just does not mix well.

This is because you're doing it wrong. Chips are not French Fries, they're not very crispy and they're certainly not hard. They're warm, thick, and potato-ey. And they make for an excellent sandwich filler with some ketchup and salt.
