It's only been out for about a year and a half, and I've only seen weebs talk about it a few times here. If you haven't tried it already, HelloTalk has been the shit so far for me:
> 23, burger, 7-7.5/10 and fairly anti-social, never had much luck with tinder and all that bullshit > get HelloTalk and post a simple profile with meh cover pic > put that I'm learning Arabic > it's been two days, and five Arab girls and three dudes are reached out to me (one was married and wants to convert me to islam, but oh well shes nice) > It's amazing how many girls are on this fucking app, and many of them aren't attention whoring (on the outside anyway) > bros respond too, they're not just out for pussy > You can record voices, make calls, correct language mistakes, etc. > I'm having legitimate and productive conversations in my language too, no one's using me without giving back > if you're learning multiple languages and don't want to pay, just rack up more pals in one, change your main language after two days, rinse and repeat, the free version is pretty awesome
idk how much longer it may be like this, but it seems like a gold rush compared to interpals, especially for those who legit want to learn languages. Get the fuck in here Jow Forums, and claim your waifus before it all goes to shit!
I'm not sure, honestly. From the Arabic side, there's a lot of girls on there, and a lot of thirsty looking guys, but it seems that if you are reserved and don't sperg out, girls will contact you. One of the arab girls i saw is learning chinese too, that's definitely becoming a thing as saudi arabia sides more with china.
Michael Ramirez
By the way, if you like latin chicks, I bet you money there's plenty on there that would love to speak, I personally know a Mexican chick that became a complete weeb.
The app allows you to record voice clips and send back and forth, like this person responding to me:
I mean it hue bro, try it. If you are looking to speak with grills, believe me, they're on there and many more talk back than the ones on interpals.
If you are serious in improving your language you want to improve, it's fucking great. You can record audio, have calls, text chat, offer corrections to what people write with notes, and it's all on a pretty good interface. Idk how it got so many people, but it sue is growing. I'm amazed Jow Forums isnt talking about this more
Gabriel Cox
I unironically met my fiance from this app, it’s based. As long as you’re not a creepy pajeet you should be able to strike up conversations with some cool people
Brody King
I'm just so worried that it will go the way of tinder and omegle and become a spot for attention whores...
It's too based to stay this way :( it's been so long since something cool has come up with the internet, I'm spending a lot of free time now talking with people, i'm not used to it lol
Kayden Lopez
There are a few attention whores (my most memorable was this russian girl who was pretty and had a good job but literally everything about her was “look at me”) Basically they are the minority and the serious language learners on there keep that in check. The only attention they will get is from literal pajeets. It is a great platform for learning though, I met a really good friend through it (he wants to immigrate to the us) and my fiancé. This app has been around for years man, the fact that I’ve only now seen it mentioned on 4chinz of all places shows how much life it still has.
Hunter Harris
No doubt, and I don't doubt that many girls have a circle of beta orbiters ready to teach them at any time (it seems many on the app are teaching english or going to english class and they use this as a supplement). The guy who's teaching me is Kurdish and was even telling me about how the UN is offering jobs there, I may look into it. I can't wait to see who else I can meet, I'm just amazed this is not a general the same way culturepals is now...
What's the big deal about culturepals anyway?
Camden Cruz
It seems like culturepals is very transparent about being an international dating platform with a thin veneer of “cultural exchange”. It’s pretty memey and I never cared for it.
Hellotalk gives you tools for correcting people as well as having your speech corrected. Most people I met were pretty boring and empty but the few really cool people I met made it so worth it. Analyzing their sentences and having their advice let me skyrocket my understanding of russian grammar. Also I discovered the beauty of the Ukrainian language and overall greatly deepened my understanding of (slavic) linguistics. I actually never shill hellotalk because I’ve always been afraid of attracting shitheads to it. Btw why are you learning arabic?
Jace Kelly
I am learning because Arabic is in Persian loanwords, then I became fascinated by the grammar and the sheer complexity of the words used. Right now I'm trying to learn the really high level Arabic used by classical authors, I'm pretty good with news and most contemporary reading material. Dialect is a WHOLE different story though XD
I'm planning on learning Persian and Armenian next, so I think it will be pretty cool
Tyler Jackson
I wanted to learn german, but I don't think girls want to train their English with a dude that has English as second language. I've seen, German to portuguese people, but they are offline most of the time. I was actually considering messaging people on Instagram at random.
Charles Watson
Yeah man Arabic is very complex, my mom knows it actually. She says conversational arabic isn’t that bad but high-level academic arabic is extremely difficult. Interesting that you want to learn fahrsi and armenian. Armenian is actually my first language even though I was born here.
Andrew Perez
Have you considered looking for german brazilians (there's 15 million out there)? Try doing the english lessons with germans anyway, perhaps some of them may know spanish or portuguese.
Aaron Flores
> convo Arabic easy, high level hard
It's the other way around for me, since I was taught high level at the outset. Farsi is the most aesthetic I've ever heard, and I love the poetry (I know a good bit of its grammar, just no roots or vocab).
You know Armenian?! Is there any way we could connect on whatsapp or hellotalk, I already know Armenian script a good bit, and I am learning some phrase in preparation for travel there.
Dominic Morris
Haha man I admire your dedication. I actually barely know the script because I’ve only ever had to use Armenian in conversation. I guess I could help you with speaking. You can give me more info at [email protected]. One thing you should know is that I mainly know western armenian (arevmtahayeren) but I still know how most of the grammar works in either dialect even though they’re pretty distinct. And yeah Fahrsi is pretty pleasant, I especially love the writing of Omar Khayyam, makes my hair stand. We used to be very close, but became divided after the introduction of abrahamic religions
Christopher Jenkins
Are guys typically patient?
Jack Ward
It's not a dating site. Stop using it as one.
Brandon Miller
Who said it's a dating website? A lot of relationships come from that, you never know when you fall in love
Jackson Davis
Literally all girls complain about perverts on this app. So many girls I was talking to were like "let's move on to whatsapp/line/whatever because I'm deleting my account here". So many people get discouraged from using this app that it's unreal.
Fucking shitskins ruin everything for everyone as always.
Jayden Nelson
In every platform that happens. But remember, that is also an excuse to get you "closer". On interpals everyone blocks turks, Algerians, Indians, Moroccans and pakis. They're impossible to deal with. Old people are also indian tier.
Jordan Sanders
It’s kind of nice because it reminds you of how in real life they are literally despised subhumans, thus affirming what you already keep in mind.
Dikshits and muslims using it as a bride abduction site is what makes it so easy to meet cool people. >what’s that? You’re not an indian rapist? Add me on whatsapp!
Nathan Torres
Fuck man, no one likes us lmao Be afraid, my man. I just found out today that only 29% of our population has access to the internet. All those retards you see asking for boobs and nudes online are people that have just started using the internet and don't really know how it works.
Chase Thompson
I've met cool indians here on Jow Forums, but seriously, indians abuse a lot. I think that this also happen because the women population is bigger. I've even seen videos where indians say that if a women show too much skin, she should be raped. Saw another video of a normal white girl that was in her indian hotel and a guy broke the air-conditioning button and said that he needed to enter to fix the air-conditioning. She didn't let him enter and never left her room for 3 days. The guy was always around her door youtu.be/myhubCtp-DI
Josiah Rodriguez
I saw that video like two weeks ago. Tragic.
We have so many problems lmao Repressed sexual desires - for both men and women Bollywood movies are cancer - they teach you that harassing the girl is okay and that no doesn't necessarily mean no etc
I dunno what happened, man. We went from the land that made/wrote the kama sutra to...this.
It sucks even harder for me because I'm just your average indian expat. I just hope it doesn't become a problem for me. Not just this app. But life in general. Indians are already regarded as creeps.
Caleb Bennett
Normally it won't be a problem for you. People have tp know that everyone isn't the same. They just might be sceptical at first. If you see the hashtag lookingforlove on Instagram, it's mainly Indians there
Joseph Rivera
Damn, I receive messages everyday, I feel bad not replying desu.
