actually Piłsudski was great in analyzing and predicting events during first World War he succesfully predicted central powers defeating Russia and then getting defeated by western Allies, so many Poles fought with Austria-Hungary against Russia, but then did not fight with Germany against England and France so then in 1933 he predicted, that Nazi Germany was going to start another world war and he wanted to start a preventive war as soon as possible, with Poland attacking Germany from the east and France from the west, and it would probably happen, but France decilining the plan and Hitler announcing Non-aggression pact with Poland in 1934 made him change his mind, and then he died one year later

Depends on what land they claimed, and what kind of state it would be. If it's a Polish republic, then only claim the land that's Polish. "Island" minorities like Jews or other small towns or pockets of non-Polish identity can be subsumed, just don't have the borders of the nominal Polish nation-state overlapping another nation's territory. It's impossible to get a multi-ethnic union to work, even if it's federal, unless there's a monarchical type regime which unites the different kingdoms. Even if there was a dictator for life ruling all the countries, they would be unequal, because the dictator can be overthrown or replaced without reference to what the smaller countries want, whereas a king can (in theory) be said to be imposed equally on all countries. A monarchy (in theory) provides the state with a raison d'etre which preempts the factional struggles for political control which are the basis of democratic and oligarchic politics.
