Depends on what land they claimed, and what kind of state it would be.
If it's a Polish republic, then only claim the land that's Polish. "Island" minorities like Jews or other small towns or pockets of non-Polish identity can be subsumed, just don't have the borders of the nominal Polish nation-state overlapping another nation's territory.
It's impossible to get a multi-ethnic union to work, even if it's federal, unless there's a monarchical type regime which unites the different kingdoms. Even if there was a dictator for life ruling all the countries, they would be unequal, because the dictator can be overthrown or replaced without reference to what the smaller countries want, whereas a king can (in theory) be said to be imposed equally on all countries. A monarchy (in theory) provides the state with a raison d'etre which preempts the factional struggles for political control which are the basis of democratic and oligarchic politics.
