Toruń is based you get a pass anyways.

There's this place that is like 10 minutes from where I live. My home town was the Stone House which has stood since 1639 when my town was founded. It's the oldest structure in New England.

>tfw the only "castle" near my city is an abandoned keep tower being taken over by nature because the local government doesnt give a shit about it

Attached: guimarei10.jpg (840x280, 258K)

Npw that's just sad. Don't govs like tourists?

i dont live in a particularly touristic area, theres only local "tourism" and locals arent wealthy
if this castle was in the east coast or andalucia it would be in mint condition and probably have a guided tour

Castles are for cowards anyway

pic my slowbro

I don't have any, it's just a bunch of rocks in the woods

Castles are gay

bummer, I wanted to make some new discoveries

converted into a hotel now but still pretty cool.

Attached: tauntoncastle.jpg (1024x768, 198K)

Does a church out of the 11 century count?

Attached: 37B67C2F-9EFD-4203-A2F8-47A16C14181D.jpg (900x650, 171K)

Why did they allow it though? I mean we got hotels in castles as well but only a small part can be a hotel most of it is protected by law.

It's nice and all but it's not even a fortified church which is like half of a castle.

Okay then I can only can offer this Ruin, which is in a village right next to my city

no fucking clue. it's not just a hotel there's a bar and all sorts in there. no one really gives a fuck about it unfortunately. another part is the somerset museum though.

looks comfy I bet there's a underground tunnel or two beneath

meh, what year was it build in?

This is pretty close by
With these things there is usually a very expensive upkeep so if someone decides to take it on and turn it into a business it's a win-win because the alternative is ruin. It's like when a church gets converted into a nightclub

I also forgot to add that my city has huge parts left of its medieval city walls

The only one I could find within Patis, otherwise there are plenty within an hour of transit.

Walls are sweet but it looks like those are already change into living spaces, well I guess it can't be helped.

Oh man, imagine if it was standing, what a sight it would be.

Its not a gay palace it has towers!1

Attached: chateau-haroue-lorraine.jpg (967x502, 100K)

Looks like a tavern

Gay towers

pls fren it's a palace, it's nice but not a castle

I guess france made a lot of gay castles because we were so much stronger than everyone else we were not expecting sieges

But you have nice ones as well, I've been to France, but later on gay castles and citadels took over I think and old ones were rebuild to fit.

Reclaim it and become a local baron or something

I now feel the urge to play kingdom come deliverence.

We don't really have too many castles in Sweden, as feudalism never hit us, and the need for a powerful, reinforced central position was small.

Gothenburg was founded as a walled trade city. Pic related is one of the two main buildings; they're what remains of the old forts that protected the city in the east and west. If you look at the central parts of the city on google maps, you'll see the moat; along that moat there used to be a city wall with some neat gates, but it was all demolished in the 1800s. The moat remains though.

Do they dig up stuff often? Like remains of walls or parts of the castle that they didn't know were there? I'm all for rebuilding that stuff.

REEEEE

Attached: can't wake up.jpg (600x706, 43K)

the nice ones are older, when france was a bitch to england and germans were pagans and shit

I visited the whole valley of Loire and Mont-Saint-Michel fren, I've seen enough to knwo France is great castlewise.

why you haf to be mad?

it was originally a saxon priory but got converted by the normans and was completed in 1129.

that is a fair point actually. i don't understand why it's a hotel though because my town is infested by chavs.

you dont even know what you're missing lad

Ah, not really. Gothenburg was founded only 400 years ago. There have been settlements and towns in this region for several thousand years, but not where the central city stands afaik.

Attached: white-castle.jpg (550x412, 45K)

Essentially is. They hold weddings there. If you like New England you should check out

I like it

I bet some white knights in fedoras reside there.

>Gothenburg was founded only 400 years ago
Jesus my town is almost that old

Even our castles are whiter than u

not a castle but imagine sitting your ass where old romans use to sit all sweaty and with their ballsack out touching where your ass is now, haha

Yeah. It was a strategic choice by Gustavus Adolphus. Like I said; people have lived here for thousands of years, and many villages have been incorporated into the city, it's just Gothenburg that was founded and designed for a specific purpose. Pic related is an old map of the city center. As you can see; it was heavily fortified to keep this important trading port safe from cunning danes and cheeky norwegians.
