Genuinely wonder what would have happened if the German empire had formed in 1848 instead.

Shouldn't you guys be using a beaver and a moose or something.

COA of the Netherlands between 1584-1814 and it would most likely be used if we'd become a Republic again.

Not really
For the most part no north american colony had been granted arms. After Confederation Canada was granted arms and being a British colony they were just a canadianised version of the British arms.
It isn't technically "canada's" coat of arms, they are the Royal arms of the Monarch of canada and since the Crown is the country they serve as a national coat of arms.
Each province has been granted their own CoA now and they tend to look far more Canadian.

Fun fact: most of the things you associate Canada with are very recent developments. Hockey, beavers, Oh Canada, and the maple leaf flag are new and serve as alternates. The union flag and God save the Queen are still an official national flag and antjem. The canadian horse and lacrosse have been our national animal and sport for 100+ whereas hockey and beaver are from like the 1990s. The goose also isn't our bird, it's the grey jay.

House of Stuart, right? Here’s another version, used by the last Stuart monarch Anne, Queen of Great Britain in 1707-1714.
