because i had only 50 days for my grand touring and i had to arrive the Sahara Desert within the days. got inspired by Ibn Battuta a lot

Honestly the only time i took a hitchhiker it was women around 25/30 and she was batshit crazy, i thought she was gonna rob me.

Everything is too artificial (including people), there is nothing to do.

Watched a streamer hitchhike on Iceland earlier this week. Was lucky and got picked up by a sweet girl from California who gave him a ride all the way from Vik to Reykjavik (like 200km). Stopped and hung out at a bunch of attractions on the way there (beach, waterfall, mountains etc.), shared a meal, grabbed some drinks and spent the night together in his tent. It was pretty wholesome.

Then again something like that only happens in 1 of 100 rides, so it's not really worth all the bad experiences and strange people you have to get through to get there. I'm too autistic to hitchhike either way.

It's a small streamer who has been hitchhiking for years. He hitchhiked through all the 50 US states a while ago and has hitchhiked through like 30 countries. He lives on donations and travels as cheap as possible, barely ever spending money on food or accomodation. Hardly someone who could afford staging such an encounter in a remote place on Iceland, but if that was the case I'm impressed both kept it natural for 6-7 hours on screen.
