Poverty is relative. A poor person in California is a millionaire in whatever shithole you’re from.

And the reason why poverty is an issue all over the country is because we have comparatively few safety nets, stupid drug laws that prevent people from getting jobs, and we work too hard for too little.

California isn’t the only state with homeless people either. It might have a lot of homeless, but st least in contributes SOMETHING.

California only has one problem and it's overpopulation. There's too many dam people making the housing really expensive because of the supply and demand. They also build more horizontally instead of vertically because of earthquakes so space use is always inefficient. Traffic is also the worst in the continental US in the big cities because of the population density. That's why people are moving, not because muh liberals but because there's not a lot of room left unless you want to live in the middle of nowhere in central CA

Not sure about the top % but I do know a few people who moved there to work in the tech industry and have to room with 3-5 others in 1-2 bedroom apartments just to make rent. Where as here they would already own a house.
