My country is European but not part of the EU, however basically all countries in the area are at best semi-EU.
My chief grievance with the EU is the near-permanent exploitative, capitalist class-preferential legislation.
It is nearing the American "rape you up the ass until you die from poverty" model.

I think this is true for most countries. UK turnout at the 2014 EU Parliament elections was about 3.5%, in The Netherlands it's 37%, Portugal 33% and Spain 36%.

The EU brought Ireland into the first world. It gave us grants for education, agriculture, and infrastructure.
However, now the EU has too much control over Ireland and opinions on the union have shifted greatly.
Cultural wise, I don't it's influenced the country too much or at all.
