Needs to be nuked from the face of the earth.
nothing out of the ordinary. more smuggling and more "we wuz soviets and sheeeeeeeeeeit" but apart from that It's a fairly normal eastern european autocracy. richer than moldova and ukraine fwiw.
imagine living on land between two made-up countries and still, somehow, managing to entertain delusions of national identity
>richer than moldova and ukraine fwiw
You know communism means poverty, right? You are a massive fucking liar.
i said richer, not rich
Is it safe for tourists? How do they feel about westerners?
Every single capitalist country is richer than communist countries by default, especially if they're neighbors.
It doesn't even share a land border with Russia; why doesn't Moldova just invade it and subdue its occupants by force? There's only a few hundred Russian peacekeepers there.
wouldn’t Russia just deploy more soldiers?
But how? They don't have any border with it, they'd have to outright invade Ukraine to do this.
god you're boring
>Is it safe for tourists?
yeah it's perfectly safe. the only problem is that there are no embassies or other diplomatic missions in transnistria, so if you DO get in trouble you're kinda fucked. very unlikely though. just don't take pictures of senstitive stuff and behave like a normal human bean and you'll be good.
>How do they feel about westerners?
they're kinda aloof if you only speak english, not as hospitable as other european countries. speaking russian or romanian helps a lot though.
Not him but probably planes
There's still a port I think
I don't see a (non-river) port on the map
Besides, Moldova is landlocked
Transnistria I think occupies a massive river that used to go into Moldova proper. While the Moldovan government is stuck with a rather shitty river to use
there are couple of reasons:
first of all the russian presence in russia doesn't amount to just a couple hundred of soldiers but well over 1000, and they're way better equipped than anything moldova's military could put up.
then there's the dniestr river serving as a natural border which makes invasion inherently difficult.
and there's the fact that support for a reunion with moldova is very low among the transnistrian populace. moldova is just that much of a shithole.
>they'd have to outright invade Ukraine to do this.
kek
There is an airport in Trispol
Have you been there? What if I want to take pictures of S.T.A.L.K.E.R stuff? Will I get in trouble?
It's not a communist state, you stupid mutt. The flag is just a commie era leftover.
>S.T.A.L.K.E.R stuff?
what do you mean by that? transnistria is fairly densely populated, there's not a lot in terms of stalker feels e.g. deserted places, ghost towns. the balkans, ukraine and russia are better for that kinda stuff. there's lots of soviet stuff though but by itself that isn't exactly stalkeresque imo.
Have you been to Tiraspol ? What happens there ?
Did you buy anything related to SHERIFF ?
Hmm interesting.
Did you like your time there?
IIRC Russian peacekeepers, was part of Moldova and they want to be part of Russia but Russia doesnt want them. Think of like an older version of novorusija
>richer than moldova and ukraine
No it is 2,000 gdp per capita. Moldova is like 3200 and Ukraine 2640. Its significantly more impoverished than both. Maybe it's better than novorossiya.
>Did you buy anything related to SHERIFF?
you mean the soccer club (not into soccer at all) or the supermarket chain? sheriff stores are ubiquitous in tiraspol.
yeah i like shitholes. apart from the novelty factor and the soviet memorials transnistria has little going for it though, objectively speaking.
>richer than moldova and ukraine fwiw.
They can even write that they are richer than Switzerland in official data, but no one will believe this Russian bullshit.
so you wouldn’t really recommend it?
So you speak Romanian or Russian?
except you're wrong
you're comparing transnistria's 2007 gdp numbers with moldova's and ukraine's 2017 stats.
transnistria is significantly richer than both moldova and ukraine. most of moldova's former industrial base is located in transnistria.
russia invested a shitton into transnistria during soviet times, which is why transnistria is quite ahead of their neighbors these days. ukraine is basically a failed state at this point - you can't even imagine how poor it is.
>After World War II, Transnistria was heavily industrialised, to the point that, in 1990, it was responsible for 40% of Moldova's GDP and 90% of its electricity,[103] although it accounted for only 17% of Moldova's population.
The dates don't matter, Transnistria is a commie shithole that needs to disappear
Yes, Transnistria needs to disappear, but if it will just become a part of Moldova, then commie pro-Russian parties PCRM and PSRM will rule Moldova permanently.
Because banning them from voting is "undemocratic", the best way is probably giving out it, as much I don't want it, to Ukraine (not for nothing, of course)
>the best way is probably giving out it, as much I don't want it, to Ukraine (not for nothing, of course)
????
ukraine can't even keep its own territorial integrity intact.
It doesnt look like it's getting better.

This is the 4th issue of the Regional Economic Review: Transnistrian region, which analyses the economic evolution of the region from Dniester’s left bank, explains the key macroeconomic and sector-level trends in the region and provides forecasts for key economic indicators for 2016-2017.

Well that paste fucked up
>The Transnistrian economy is still facing an unprecedented economic recession. Most of risks identified in the previous edition of the publication have materialized, while the other are likely to materialize in the near future. After a 20% slump in 2015, the Transnistrian economy is anticipated to shrink by 5-6% in 2016. If the recession of 2015 was caused by almost all sectors of the region’s economy, in 2016 it will be determined by two most problematic sectors: constructions and services. Hence, the compensatory growths in agriculture and industry expected for this year, which are expected to be impressive, given the low comparison base, will not be enough to ensure an economic relaunch in 2016.
It's just a choice. Either Moldova without Transnistria in Romania, or Moldova with Transnistria but in Russia.
I think the 1st one is better.
Also Transnistria was never a part of Romania (except of 1941-1944), it was part of "Moldovan Autonomous SSR" (being a part of Ukrainian SSR) before 1940, because Russians wanted to reconquer it from Romania. Also in 1940 USSR took some lands from occupied Romanian territory and gave it to Ukraine because "too Slavic", but in their opinion Transnistria was not "too Slavic" so it was given from Ukraine to Moldova. Just Russians want to fuck up the countries if they become independent.
>yeah it's perfectly safe.
last i heard it was pretty sketchy, with militias arrassing you for money, etc
>Either Moldova without Transnistria in Romania
????
most moldovans don't want to unite with romania.
we wuzzing implies they weren't but they were actually soviets
>most moldovans don't want to unite with romania.
Maybe somewhere in Ocnița or Briceni
i am not sure what you're trying to imply. moldova's population has been staunchly against a reunification with romania ever since independence.
tru
I'm trying to imply that the north of RM is full of pro-Russian commies.
Also Taraclia and Găgăuzia are same, but they are just Bulgarians and Gagauzes.
so?
over 80% of moldova's population (excluding transnistria) are moldovans/romanians. it can't just be the ruskies and meme turks who are against a unification with romania.
Pretty much every piece of land which was under Soviet control was educated by Soviet standards, that's why
yeah like the ukrainians who are also fully pro-russian these days
