Come to America

>come to America
>stop to buy a coffee
>go to check out
>see this

What do? Keep in mind the barista is watching you intently while you decide and hasn't prepared your coffee yet.

*custom tip*

Coffee monkies can fuck off.

It's not even Europa. A lot of people here wont tip them.

people of the melanistic persuasion, perhaps?

Ok. All jokes aside. Americans don't actually tip for coffee right. A machine makes the coffee. It just goes SPPPSSSUSUSURRRTTT TTTTT and then there's coffee in a cup. What are you tipping for?

>$4.42
>round up to $5 multiple by 2
>20% of 10 is 2 divide by 2
>$1
>stare at thot while she prepares my beverage maybe making small talk with her or somebody else in the store while I wait
then I go on with my day

I make her think I'm tipping but in reality I tip nothing

to pay their wage because their enslave-- i mean, their """"employers"""" don't pay them shit

I don't order coffee so I don't know. I know a lot of businesses lately do this scumbaggy shit of giving you the option to tip even when it is not normal to tip.

Like when you pick up food for instance, some receipts will have a spot for tip even though it is not normal to tip when you pick up the food yourself, etc.

Ok now I'm even more confused. Do you tip at like McDonalds as well then?
Pay whose wages though? The man who pressed the button on the espresso machine that makes it go PSSUSUSUSPRPRPRPRPRRTTTTTTTT? If the company does not pay that man a wage he should find another job. I mean, even in america it is illegal to just not pay someone right? Like by this logic can I hire software developers in American for zero dollars but then have them paid in tips?

>a machine makes the coffee

Yes but the specialty coffee shops that usually have this type of checkout offer a lot more filter based options like V60 and Chemex etc than you'll find in Europe. It's still minimal work and nothing more than is expected of them so it's stupid to tip. I'm a top soiboi though so I like to go to places like this and most customers I've seen paying have tipped a dollar or two.

No nobody would ever tip at McDonalds and you never tip when you pick up food or go to a store to get it, only when you are eating inside the restaurant and deal with a waiter, or order and deal with a delivery person.

Although one time I was duped into tipping a pretty girl. I ordered food and saw the receipt and it had a big spot for a tip and I was so distracted by this girls beautiful eyes and blonde hair and smile that I tipped her and still remember it to this day.

>$4.42
>probably didn't wash the filters because Starbucks garbage
I leave

>V60 and Chemex
This sounds like a type of Gasoline. Do Americans buy gasoline at coffee shops? I still do not understand why tipping is a thing here. For resterants I can fathom the idea, even if it is stupid because the server like..does something that requires tipping? I think. Or whatever. But a coffee machine is a machine that makes coffee. If you tip the coffee machine button pusher should you not also tip the check out cashier at grocery, and the police officer, and the factory man who pulls a handle.

There's no way. This cant be true. Americans do not tip inanimate machines, no matter how stupid they are.

>buy coffee
>paypass the $4
>leave
there's a tip jar usually with scant coins, but people get paid enough

>Keep in mind the barista is watching you
then why can't I ask him directly instead of using the tablet?
I see this, I 360 walk away, if there's a counter and a waiter I'll order there

>delivery person.
You tip people for bringing you food with their vehicle to your domicile? What is this logic for this. Do you also tip the postal service man? What if the postal service man is bringing you food you ordered from amazon. Is this tippable? What are the criteria.

Is it food based? Can't be because not McDonalds
Delivery based? Can't be because postal service

????

I don't agree with tipping baristas but it seems like you have never had a decent (not even good) cup of coffee in your life. You don't just push a button and get coffee unless you enjoy drinking shit flavoured water.

>Do you also tip the postal service man?

Many Americans do this although it's usually some kind of gift around Christmas time

>but it seems like you have never had a decent (not even good) cup of coffee in your life.
Don't ever quote me again your poor sack of shit.

I should have known it was you by your autism

It's when you receive a personal service. Food delivery person is the main person you will ever tip, they don't get paid much (usually its just somebody taking a second job trying to earn a little extra cash for a few hours of driving) and it can often be dangerous for them.

You will rarely ever encounter a mail person delivering your mail, so it is not a personal service. In McDonalds nobody is providing you a service outside of making the food which you paid for. It is a cultural thing and if you are not careful some business will try to take advantage of you by making it seem like it is normal to tip. It can be a tax on kind people at time, but at the same time some people find relief in generosity.

>>Many Americans do this
I have never in my life seen or heard of anybody doing this. Maybe in old time movies when they would delivery and read off telegraphs, but I'm not even sure that was a real tradition it was so long ago.

>month old image
ok this is epic

You dont fucking tip for coffee, only tip when you are at a sit down restaurant with an actual waiter. They just put that shit there to trick people into tipping

It's a thing, google it. At least half the people on the street where my in-laws live do it around Christmas (SW Florida).

Not as epic as your poverty.
Indeed. You should know your betters.

>At least half the people on the street where my in-laws live do it around Christmas

Do you mean leaving out food and drink for the postal workers during the holidays? Yes this is a tradition but I wouldn't call it tipping.

That or your in-laws have completely degenerated an american tradition.

Hummm okay guys
Serious question seeking serious answers :

Do Americans really do this?

I thought we had a thread about that last night and covered everything and it even reached the bump limit. Why is Jow Forums like that?

no

yes

why do you have a word for people who prepare coffee for a living

>pour grounds into thing
>lock thing into machine
>push button
>$3 please :^)

VS

>carry food from kitchen to table
>give me 15% extra I deserve it
>nothing for the kitchen though, cooking isn't a real job

I can't tell which is worse 2bh

they should all have their face pushed into boiling soup for wanting more money

it is an italian word

I'd never buy a coffee in the usa

>muh food autism

Enjoy your shit tier robusta swill

>by this logic can I hire software developers in American for zero dollars but then have them paid in tips?
it's happening right now on Youtube
except they're paid for "views" not tips

they have very good coffee shops, you just have to do some research. just don't go to starbucks and you should be good

you consider youtubers "software developers"?

There are only certain jobs that can be tipped so no you cant just hire someone for $0

barista is literally barman, that's not really difficult to realize

>what is the PNW

Thank you Joao you are my greatest ally.

thank you for welcoming so well in my trip

Attached: persona3273.jpg (600x600, 56K)

wtf I helped too

Of course, you're an Italian stuck with the shit taste of nothing but espresso.
No matter what you want from coffee, there's alternative method that does it better.
