Reading up on the Franco-German enmity is actually kinda funny because it makes you realize how important France was in Germany compared to now. Germans had all these weird biases for France, they called French people their "hereditary enemy", and France the "great nation" in a sarcastic way. I don't think we ever had anything similar to this level of obsession for Germans in France, we just wanted revenge for 1871.
