Food seems to be pretty cheap in most Yuro countries iirc. Fresh veggies and bread are bargains over there compared to the US I've heard. Also you gotta keep in mind that most of our crops go towards things other than fresh food. Most of the corn here is grown for ethanol and the like after all.

mine is made out of white stone wall at the bottom floor and grey-painted wood in the upper floors
well they can own several parcels of course, but they're usually spread out because of the compact and hilly nature of the landscape which is interrupted by settlements and villages every few miles
but in some regions in northern Germany there are less densely populated areas and also the landscape is more flat
but like said food isn't that expensive, I guess just not as cheap as in the US
