Modern AAA is cancer, I don't even think the stuff you mention is half as bad as the fact that online-only singleplayer has become common too. It's a shame when I love videogames so much but all I can play nowadays is retro stuff and the 2 or 3 indie games nowadays that don't suck
Favourite roguelike is Barony by far, I played like 20 hours of RoR because of friends and I'm just not sure why people like it so much

Are there any good AAA Western games left? Red Dead Redemption 2 was good but the story missions are too linear. There’s too much time travelling from one side of the map to another and playing the game exactly how Rockstar wants you to play it when it’s supposed to be open world.

I like the idea of the survival platformer RPG but the dotalike design just doesn't sit right with me. What with the character selection, items and four abilities with cooldowns. I mean sure it plays fine but maybe I just have a grudge against it because absolutely everyone I know loves it to death and I don't think it's that amazing outside of the music lol

In RDR2 you can set a camp with a fire when its raining or whatever harsh weather. In a game like Breath of the Wild you have to find tinder for the fire and set the camp in a dry area. RDR after a while feels fake whereas Breath of the Wild like an actual intuitive world

That’s not my point. My point is that the best AAA Western games are dated with many franchises having the same game mechanics they did ten years ago. RDR2 is essentially the same as RDR1 in terms of gameplay apart from a half arsed dialogue system. Now compare Breath of the Wild or Phantom Pain and the game mechanics are a lot more fleshed out than previous games in the franchise

Yes it is. Believing that any reasonably big company, not just in video games, cares about anything other than making money (whether it's short or long term) is American tier thinking. Nintendo develops the games the way it does because they think it brings them more money, not because they care. Same reason western companies like Hello Games still update their games for free for months and months after release, not because they care, they just want more money. And that's perfectly fine.
