Gravy is common in every anglo country. Dunno about outside of them.
Anyway, making gravy is pretty easy. Combine equal parts flour and oil in a saucepan over medium low heat and whisk the mixture continuously to form a roux (you'll know you have a roux when it no longer smells like raw flour). Add some sort of meat broth and whisk the mixture together until the roux and the broth are combined. You now have gravy. The proportion of roux to broth depends on how thick you want your gravy to be.
North America has good meat that isn't tainted with parasites, and meat tastes best when medium rare

I'll add that a little goes a long way with roux. A good ratio to start with is one tablespoon (~15 ml) of flour and oil to one cup (~235 ml) of broth.

'whisk' just means to stir vigorously
'roux' is a mixture of flour and some sort of fat (usually butter or oil)
'broth' is the liquid produced when you boil bones and/or meat for an extended period. You can usually buy it canned if you don't wanna make it yourself.

this is how good steak is done
two things to note here, the meat is aged which means it's already denatured all it needs is being heated to fell nice and warm bring out the flavor and a little searing to keep the juices in and give it some extra flavor.

Poutine is french fries, cheese curds, and gravy. And yeah, it's a Canadian thing. Gravy by itself is just a sauce. You have to put it on things. The most common thing to put it on is mashed potatoes.

>brush the steak with olive oil use fresh ground pepper and salt on the sides
>clean some garlic and crush with the knife just a bit gently until you hear it pop
>prepare some butter and a twig of rosemary
>bring the olive oil in the steak pan to smoking hot
>sear each side for 1 minutes you can eve press on the meat from above make sure you sear the fat nice
>then throw butter and garlic and rosemary and quickly mix them with the meat juice
>put the steak into a preheat container and into oven
>3.5minutes for each side (flip once)
>take it out put on plate and cover (not fully let the steam out) for 5 mins to let the steak settle
>when you serve it put a bit of spice butter on top and salt flakes
with the leftover steak juice in the pan you can make a sauce with green peppers (soak them for an our as the meat warms up) and cream that goes very well with the steak.
this will result in a steak that has very nice consistency it's not overdone at any part between rare and medium rare in it's entirety with a nice sear. it's a taste orgasm.

put the electric oven to minimum setting that's like 50C and let the door slightly open cut the meat to thin slices they were marinated before and put them onto a cocking slab let them dry up.
it was a disaster. it's was tougher than a boot sole. stuck between your teeth. and i used too much mustard in the marinade so you couldn't taste anything else.
