In 2018 Canada probably made international news with weed legalization, the arrest of that Chinese oligarch, maybe Trudeau's trip to India, the USMCA trade agreement, not sure what else.
Also post things you've seen from other countries that made the news in your area.
The biggest thing this year was probably when some syrian guy stabed someone and there were a few weeks of protest
