Very dangerous, but it depends on where you stay.
You can be quite "safe" if you follow some procedures, the last time I was robbed was maybe 1 year ago just by using Uber,staying in busy streets and overall good neighborhoods.
Also, most Brazilians know how to identify possible Favelados or criminals before things get rough.
As long as you don't play with drugs or be a general shithead you will never get assassinated like you see in Liveleaks.
For a casual foreigner, I wouldn't recommend, especially those normies from Europe thinking it's all fine and dandy here.
