the word guero does not exist outside of mexico. Here we don't have a word for white people, but we call people with blond hair "mono", it has nothing to do with animals, that's the word we use . Spaniards use the word mono to say something is cute. Venezuelans use the word "catire". Brazilians use Loira for blond people (if I'm not mistaken learnt it through porn )

That's a folk etymology, the word seems to be related to Spanish guiri. We also use gabacho in Mexico for Americans and sometimes Canadians whereas in Spain it means the French.

i think you are confused. there is definitely subtle linguistic differences. english also has the word negro which is obsolete/taboo and so can only be used as a racial slur along with nigger. whereas in spanish negro can be used as both, as in the color negro or negro de mierda. of course some people will argue that negro de mierda is not strictly a racial slur, especially in places like argentina where it may mean dumb fuck in general. overall it is more complicated than you make it sound. the key here is if there is an "intent to insult". if you just walk up to black guys and say hey blacks, what do you think it is going to happen? same in colombia, if you walk to a bunch of blacks and say hey, negros.

The thing is that Spanish doesn't have a direct translation/equivalent of "nigger", other languages like French, do. Negro genuinely doesn't mean anything other than black. Of course, if I call you a "negro de mierda", it may have racial undertones (the way Argentinians use the phrase is an exception and unique to them btw), but so would calling you a "blanco de mierda", with the word blanco in itself not meaning anything but white.

I repeat, Argentina is a bad example because their usage of the word is unique to them.
