It is actually not so important in case of Poland. We have ancient ability of taking over people of other ethnicities and making Poles out of them by giving them our citizenship and making them equal with us. We developed this ability due to our geography: Poland was being constantly invaded by foreigners : armies, migrants and so on, because it is placed on European plain which is ideal for movement of people from east to west and in other dorection. So population was being replaced throughout centuries but Poles as a cultural and linguistical group still exist.
