The Netherlands is actually one of the comfiest places in Europe. Unless you live in bumfuckistan in the North West.

This is the poorest city and region and looks nowhere as bad as most of Romania they're like at 50% GDP per capita level compared to national average.

Technically it's a "transcontinental" city, but most people and factories are on the European side of the river.
It's not shit, sidewalks and streets are well kept and some buildings need their facade renovated but other than that it's fine.

Mannheim is quite ugly, and most places in the Ruhrpott like Duisburg, Dortmund and Essen are piss ugly.
The Netherlands consists of like 7000 villages. So it doesnt feel overpopulatee because everyone lives in a small city or small village.
And people feel unnerved when there is no one around. People are too used to sharing space that they become uncomfortable in empy lands.

The worst place I've seen is Augustin, Transylvania near Brasov. From the train it looked as if WW2 happened a week ago. Wiki says its population if half gypsy.
It's the same here, and this is why centres have gone from being wealthy and upper class to being lower class and quite dangerous and avoided at times. Commieblocks have more "western minded" people than the centres which are like villages. And you can guess who are these "poor people" who have been given free housing, in Romania.

Bulgaria combines the worst of Turkish influence (shitty barrack houses, lack of European magnificent 19th century architecture) with the worst of Russian influence (very cheap commieblocks).
you can see the difference when you compare Skopje to Sofia, Serbian influence made Skopje look much more appealing

I don't want to insult Bulgarians, they were really unlucky that they were stuck in Turkey and then under Russian influence, but there's partially their fault too, Tito proposed them to join Yugoslavia but they preferred to stay in the Soviet-led block, the Bulgarian leader even asked Khrushchev to annex Bulgaria so it could become a Soviet republic.
I unironically love Bucharest. Bulevardul Unirii is incredible and the buildings are very unique. They just need to be renovated and a fresh coat of paint. Plus, ban satellite dishes. Romanians are top tier people as well.
