Yes, I had this same thread last night...
It didn't work out very well.
I just made a fool out of myself.
Why would you need to learn it?
Кaк?
>anglos in charge of learning a language
Bored, and because my wife and I have visited Russia and really enjoyed it. Figured I may as well pick up a foreign language where the inhabitants rarely know English (other than China, Russia has had the lowest number of English speakers of any country I've been to)
no language is so hard if you like it, you're just dumb
Pronunciation maybe, but isn't the grammar easy compared to English for example?
For example "Кaк дeлa?" which is "how are you"? It's literally just Кaк = how and дeлa = "fare", "how fare?".
>Pronunciation maybe, but isn't the grammar easy compared to English for example?
I agree with this to some degree. The Cases/Declensions are a nightmare for me personally though since I never encounter it in English.
absolutely no. Grammatical genders, roles, abscense of definite and indefinite articles etc. Anglos can't comprehend that
Just bee yourself. Works for me
why the fuck would an american want to know russian? Are you working for putin trying to rig our elections again?
Underaged retarded soviboos.
Like wehrboos but even more cringy.
You don't have to know/speak russian for rigging elections. Dumbass.
>I'm learning an irrelevant language that I will never need
Can't speak for OP, but honestly it's a pretty nice language and Russian internet culture seems pretty dope.
Learning things because you need it is for brainlets
My father learned Russian during his time with the CIA in the 70’s. No idea what he did but it must have been cool. Or as a translator.
indeed
I had russian in school and I don't know a thing. then again I wasn't a good student, but still
My wife and I would like childeren in 5 or so years. We both think it would be cool if we could raise the kid in a b-lingual household. Not to mention itd be useful for future trips to Russia.
Also.
>I had russian in school
Lemme guess, you were born in the 70's/80's?
Learning shit you don't need or the sake of learning is for pretentious hipsters
i want to creampie a russian girl, obviously
All of English-speaking Canada has French lessons in school, yet none of them leave school being able to function in French at any level whatsoever.
School language lessons are often a gigantic meme. Heck, even the obligatory English lessons in much of Quebec are a joke.
Not everyone has to work 12 hours a day to scrape by with a miserable existence like you Ivan.
Then how do people learn a second lesson?
By actually wanting to learn it (and then either taking lessons or self-teaching). Generally, if you want to actually reach a respectable level (B1 or above), it also implies said people investing a few hours of their time each week to activities related to language learning.
Compare that to schoolchildren who are completely uninterested in the language being taught, and who only have one hour a week of language-learning, and you can quickly see why it doesn't actually work.
no.
english is mandatory and then you have to pick a second language. in my school it was either german or russian. I figured russian would be easier, since it's slavic and all, but those cases killed me. bulgarian has no cases, so I just never got used to it. luckily it was only 3 years.
That doesn't negate what I said
>assblasted
what other languages don't have cases?
>hurr me so smart me learn language that me will never use
Cringe

All of the white dots on this map. Note of course that this is a small sample of languages (less than 600 IIRC), but it gives you an idea of which language families/groups have cases and which ones don't. Of course, language isolates are likely to be poorly represented in such a map.
Actually, I just realized it's way less than 600, as among the languages in the WALS project only 261 of them have a value attributed for "number of cases".
Russian grammar is fucking awful, not as much as ours though.
Watch stuff with subtitles.
Makes things much easier.
Fuck off Navalny scum!
You've made 4+ threads about that shit
What's the problem, you daft cunt?
What? This is my first thread on Jow Forums in months.
You can learn stuff just because you find learning interesting, or because something interests you, while not being really useful. A world where the only criterion for learning something is its usefulness would be pretty sad desu. Russian is a nice language and russian culture is interesting, this is reason enough to learn it.

likely story you glow in the dark spook motherfucker
Er wuz several threads by burgerländischer flags about the same problem
Because of my autism, it upsets me greatly, to see the same thing appear over and over again in a short span of time
YOU'RE AMERICAN, LEARN SPANISH
YOU'RE AMERICAN, LEARN SPANISH
YOU'RE AMERICAN, LEARN SPANISH
That was me.
I am not OP.
I have decided to learn Spanish instead of Russian.
Pathetic.

>all of the above with a long consonant rather than a short consonant
I studied English at school for 10 years + 4 years at university. You can learn all of it in a year if you study it yourself without leaving your country. I've studied French for like 3 years, the first year and a half I was concentrated on grammar, but it's kinda waste of time. You constantly see "progress", but can't apply it at practice. If I started learning a language today, after I'd've learnt basic grammar, I'd concentrated most of my time on learning words (Anki) and watching films/series with French subtitles. I knew I was supposed to be constantly watching them, but it was very demotivating that I couldn't understand anything. Only I knew like 6k+ most used words and phrases I started to feel confident with watching kino and listening to casual speech.

>wanting to talk to paco
No thanks.
Cyrillic letters probably. Bad that commies could not complete transition to latin letters, it would be the only thing that they could do right. Now we will never switch to latin letters.
>don't want to talk to paco
>want to talk to ivan instead
It's all the same shit.
it's easy, I learned it by watching cartoons and already knew it well by the age of 5
>Pu will not do some dumb shit like that
You know, Russian culture is more than just politics right?
The letters are the easiest part of it.
that actually helps a little
Thanks, Ivan
Why the fuck would anyone learn Russian?
Are you insane? Do you also believe in le Iraqi WMD? Maybe you still think the Vietnamese are responsible for Gulf of Tonkin incident?
Why Am*rican proles never learn?
Make sense if you come from central asia.
Why would anyone want to learn Mongolian?
It helps a person learn russian since both are written in cyrillic.
Which 'culture'?
just russian proxies sucking their own dicks.
too many russian flags on Jow Forums though. 2 or 3 very active faggots spamming in every thread.
(You)
Does learning spanish help you with finnish since both are written with latin alphabet?
Shut up putinbot
I'm doing epic trolling
You'll start to cry when you see how their verbs work

>кopoткий
Human height describes with the word "низкий".
>я ничeгo мoгy cдeлaть
The Russian language uses double negative. "я ничeгo HE мoгy cдeлaть".

Why Russians don't want other people to learn their language?
Read
Criminals rarely want outsiders to know what they are discussing.
I think they do. I posted in /rus/ one of my homework assignments before and they were very helpful and nice.

How ironic that a Russian is saying that when you guys speak broken English all the time here.
fak you
But that's how you learn.
Pilots undergotraining before being let to the stick
You need more training on your english.
I think using improper Russian isn't that dangerous
My pronunciation is good if accented as I've been told by my epic gamer russian internet droogi, but I absolutely have no idea about grammar other than privet gayseks and kak dela pidoras.
You're a either a troll or a complete moron
