Nowadays? Probably Milan, it seems nice. Might be a bit cold though. Anywhere in Italy without all the British expats would be nice.

Japanese cities generally have a lot of grime, in Tokyo your fingernails will go black if you keep them too long. Also the way they sort out garbage and use a million plastic bags for everything makes a lot of garbage.
Also there's the same old people pissing in the streets you get everywhere else.

Pretty much anywhere you go you'll find that beautiful little towns like this are gentrified as fuck and completely unaffordable if you're not a fourty-something businessman making an early retirement.

colorado is pretty affordable. it's basically oklahoma but with mountains.

Unless you plan on living in Quebec, you don't have to learn French to come here. Vast majority of people here cannot speak French.

These towns are depressing as fuck. Unless you're taking active advantage of the surrounding scenery (if there is any), life becomes monotonous very quickly.

cities are monotonous too, you just go into buildings and buy shit.

Milan is beautiful, at least the city center. But everything outside of that is pretty dirty and - without being racist - I felt pretty threatened by the masses of Africans in the city center. There are 3 of them on every corner trying to sell you selfie sticks or shit like that. And even worse are the ones that don't sell things and just sit around on benches, especially in the night.

Generally a beautiful city, no doubt, but there are some clear downsides.
