how can we be sure?

>don't mention crapboxes like the starfighter.
simply epic fellow Jow Forumsommando

I've baited many a eurotrash and a vatnik on Jow Forums with that image, but to be truly fair one should ways add that the reason why American equipment has such glowing performance statistics is because we're rather selective in our choice of customers and recipients

On the other hand, Soviet/Russian equipment was mindlessly handed over to any army of moderately sentient third world subhumans in the Middle east, Asia, Africa, South America and Eastern Europe.

amen. I hope you play ace combat 7?

Main reasons:
Arabs and later soviet pilots (Rimon) had less experience than jews.
Some made up numbers.
While USSR was ahead in aerodynamics and construction it didn't have access to more advanced metallurgy due to economic isolation so our engines had less resource.
Third: Overall bad maintenance of most soviet planes by arabs
Fourth: Partial coverage of losses by Blue side
Fifth: Target rich enviroment, we handed thousands of fighters to third world shitholes while joos used less planes but with veteran pilots (Pic related is an example of target rich enviroment)
And a lot of other factors
If you put a soviet and an american plane 1 v 1 in ideal enviroment the outcome would be literally decided by dice roll

It is. The Russians/Soviets give horrible training and their aftermarket support and maintenance is extremely unreliable. Brazil and Mexico have had extremely hard times getting parts for their Mi-24s, Mi-8 and Mi-26 helicopters and Malaysia is already grounding their Russian fighters because Russia has been terrible about parts and maintenance. Also look into the nightmare that is the Su-57/HAL project. It was to be an Indian development of the new Su-57 but India got pissed after pouring billions into the program that it still wasn't fully stealth, was unreliable and the correct engines still don't work right and these were supposed to me in mass service by 2015 kek.

sounds like the f35

Well if your main task is to give something to someone in excange for loyalty and not to sell something you couldn't care less about your product image

>MiG-25
>uses vacuum tubes
kek

Any comparisons between US + Western European hardware and Russian hardware will always flatter the former two simply because Russian hardware is famously used by poor shitholes everywhere.

In some cases, you have things like Rimon 20 which showed that adequately trained Israeli pilots flying western equipment roundly humiliated elite soviet pilots.

>Brazil and Mexico have had extremely hard times getting parts for their Mi-24s, Mi-8 and Mi-26 helicopters
Mexico doesn't hacve Hinds but their Hips have been flying for decades. I think their MI-26s are retired now. It doesn't matter though because they're replacing all of their helicopters with American and Euro stuff because they want to modernize and to them that means better electronics, sensors, and weapons than the Russians offer. idk about Brazil.

>muh monkey models
>muh monkey pilots

Attached: xgdGQaN_d.jpg (640x1233, 62K)

I didn't mention it, but got to it

But rimon was israeli vets against fresh soviet pilots what are you talking about and it wasn't even a plane fault

Soviet hardware is so aesthetic it doesn't need to perform.

>Target rich enviroment
Also the explanation for the viet scores. The mig-21 is not necessarily a bad plane, it had good kinematics for its timd, but it was very reliant on highly integrated GCI and cooperative targets to function well.

Most of those kills were pop-up attacks from low altitude at the rear of non-maneuvering fighter bomber formations.

So we can all agree that no matter how good is your plane your situational awareness is 75% and additional assets like ground radars are 20% of success? Wow im shockes

Russian helis are better than wectern tho

American planes are more ergonomical and have better sensors 9 times out of 10.

Besides, I'm not really taking sides here. I'm just making sure everybody understands the nature of aerial combat over Vietnam. When the USAF suffered heavy losses to MiGs during Linebacker I for example it was 99% down to the tactics they used to counter the SAM threat. Any reasonably fast airplane with a radio, heat seeking missiles and pilots capable of accurately flying an intercept pattern could have done the same. Generally running into actual American MIGCAP was a bad thing for the MiGs because the Americans tended to do better in a mutual engagement.

F35 A is fine after a bunch of shitty hiccups in development but their main issues are not being able to fit into many roles as well as older aircraft could. They've too small a payload, don't have a long service life and have a lot of weapons systems issues, the B variant is an actual piece of garbage though. I actually have a feeling that the USAF will end up cancelling about half of it's F35 orders and many other countries will too. It's already going to be obsolete by the mid 2030s and the airforce has already cut a dozen orders off of their roster and ordered F15X units instead. I have a feeling they'll just start buying more advanced variants of last gen fighters until the mid 2020s then introduce an early F35 replacement near the end of that decade.

I have a feeling that the reason they suddenly said it was okay for Israel and Japan to have full access to the F35s formerly classified systems for modication is because the US already knows it's not the true long term solution and has already begun development of a successor aircraft.

Pretty dumb long term strategy desu, if the equipment your giving is underwhelming or can't be serviced customers will see that as a reflection on Russian industry and foreign relations as a whole and go elsewhere. Mexico stopped using their Mi-8 and Mi-26 fleet because Russian companies couldn't be bothered to send replacement parts in a timely fashion and would try to change pricing after transactions had already been completed. Mexico bought a bunch of Russian APCs, helicopters and stuff before, but they had such a bad experience dealing with Russian companies that they said fuck it, now they're developing their own APCs and are just buying UH-60s that they have the license option to produce parts for. That's a loss for Russian industry because Mexico was on track to buy Su30s and some rockets from Russia previously.

No they aren't

autism

Okay fedor, time to turn off the proxy

Mexico went with Silkorsky/Lockheed and Eurocopter/Airbus because they already have established working relationships with these firms and there is already and these companies already have an established manufacturing capability in Mexico. Mexico has pretty small fleets for how big of a country it is but their small fleet gets a lot of constant use and as such, servicing intervals are hit quickly and they need the capacity to rapidly get these aircraft flying again. That might of course change soon since the new president of Mexico wants to use some of their previously corruptly pocketed oil wealth to actually expand the military a bit and give them a greater number of vehicles and aircraft. Some Mexican airline bought Sukhoi civil jets and has had similar bad experiences with them not supplying systems or being willing to transfer tech like US or Euro companies do too. They've already had to ground a few Sukhoi liners because of this.

Mexico had Mi-8 and M-26 helicopters. Brazil has Mi-24s. They've both had issues maintaining them. Also semi related, but Sukhoi lost out on selling the Su-30 to both Mexico and Brazil. Brazil is actually going to start domestically manufacturing a variant of the Saab Gripen NG and Mexico might acquire some of these Brazilian built units or build them in kits with a tech transfer. The new president wants 42 I think to replace their old as fuck F5s. Brazil is going to get up to 120 I believe and key reasons why Brazil chose this over the Sukhoi was because Saab had a more established reliable track record for support and also was willing to give Brazil a tech transfer and let them manufacture them domestically so they wouldn't have sit on their hands waiting for parts to be built in Sweden and imported when they're required.

I'm not a vatnik. I just admitted that I enjoy bullying Russians using that picture. I'm simply saying that any honest and friendly discussion of those statistics shouldn't forget to mention that there has never been a meaningful peer engagement between US and Soviet pilots.
It's relatively easy to rack up a stellar K/D ratio when your opponents are hilariously retarded pilots flying the ramshackle MiGs of some hopeless fourth-rate military

>air-to-air losses
Soviet military doctrine was built around surface-to-air defense, this why mutts delicately avoid their numbers of surface-to-air losses.

Russians stealing american chinook?

Putin hacked it.

t. knower

They're still flying, ironically, according to the Air-Force, the Mi-24's are the some of the aircraft with the biggest rate of availability.

Let's be real, both are trash when compared to the Swedish counterparts that are cheaper and more effective

Peyton?

I don't think Russian planes are shit overall like Jow Forums memes into.

One thing that i think it's curious is the SR-71 and MIG-31 comparisons.
SR-71 used the most technological composites, eletronics and engines to reach Mach 3.
Meanwhile Ivan just took some sheets of metal, two fuckhuge engines and managed to get similar results.

Attached: file.png (1000x500, 793K)

Highway to the Danger Zone starts playing...

There is a nice joke about that. Do you know why Soviet pilots had to fly their MiGs onehanded? They had to use the other to keep their eyes slanted.

>Number built 32
>Number built 1,186
I think it's should make sense why the latter was made from sheets of metal and two fuckhuge engines.

Based & Saabpilled

Attached: 1540687165389.jpg (1080x1309, 168K)

My point is, both countries have completely different building philosofies, but they manage to get similar results.
It's also funny how the modernized Mig-31's are basically flying fuel tanks now, according to the vid, pretty much everything in the plane has fuel on it.

youtube.com/watch?v=h_w_0zUs9ac

>and managed to get similar results
err the mig31 never even got close to the sr71 lol

pit whore

My point was, if americans had an objective to build over 1 thousand planes that reach 3 mach, I think their plane would be more like mig-25. Simple, cheap and effective.

Mig 31 bm reaches sr71 speed

mig31 missiles couldn't even reach sr71
what makes you think a mig31 itself could

I don't think they would done it, shit was too dangerous for that time.

Mig 31 bm max speed -3400
Sr71 max -3500 on highest altitude possible

It's still a budget jet for developing countries.

>a 2010 plane can fly almost as fast as a 1970 plane
bravo russia

btw they never found the real top speed for the sr71, they just kept flying faster and faster until the engines melted

dumb anime shit

Yes bravo indeed you emu fucker

You must be new here, mr.Sosa4er?

The Russian aviation industry is so """superior""" that they're struggling to manufacture 60 Mi28s, which until an extensive overhaul couldn't even be operated at night. Wectern aviation industry BTFO.

Only thing Russians are best at at is missiles and human wave tactics.
