Why do they look so different compared to average indians?
What is the secret of theirs top notch facial hair?
Sikhs

Do they have arab genes?
They're just punjabis
the indian jew
You mean successful Indian then?
Most come from the Punjab region of north west india. Anyone can convert to their religion.
They look like people from this region, but different to people from other regions.
They never cut their hair.
Most likely not, but northwest india is where every invader passed through so punjabis have many features that are rarer in the rest of India
Also I wondered if it is common for indian diaspora from other castes to LARP as sikhs when they get out from India and start living abroad?
I dont think so
>where do they come from
punjab, or if you mean their origin story, they came from the religious clash between Islam and Hinduism and took elements from both to become a Monotheistic religion.
>why do they look so different to average indians
I think it's against the rules to shave their heads which is why they all keep it in Turbans. They look badass desu.
>What is their secret to top notch facial hair
don't know, absolute state of muzzies getting hair mogged this hard.
That would be the Banias
No.
>Where do they come from?
Punjab
>Why do they look so different compared to average Indians?
No such thing as an "average Indian". India is composed of countless number of ethnicities who are all different looking from each other.
Sikhism is a religion, there are Punjabi Hindus, Punjabi Sikhs and Punjabi Muslims. The beard/moustache combo is a cultural sign of masculinity in Punjab, Rajasthan, other parts of North West India.
Wrong, Indian equivalent of Jews would be Banias and Jews themselves.
No why would anyone do that?
>No why would anyone do that?
Considering different castes in India I would imagine portraying yourself as someone being from a higher caste while abroad just in case you may encounter your countryman may be benefical to you.
Traditions die hard, even abroad so if you would be from a lower caste some of your diaspora would think lowly of you just because of the caste you were born in.
In my Uni where we have a lot of students from India, they don't even sit together if they are from different castes.
It seems odd to me but I guess this is just indian culture thing.
How are their political views in India?
Also, if sikhs would have children abroad in a country like Canada would they children be obliged to not cut their hair too or will they abandon this tradition and live just like an average canadian?
Sikhs aren't a caste.
They're an entirely different religion.
Non Hindus are designated as caste less people.
I could still somehow see someone from a lower caste assuming a middle class name or LARP as middle class outside of India but no one would change their religion.
Not everyone is THAT retarded in modern india
Some diaspora faggots especially the ones like Tambhrahm try to tell everyone that they are superior and high class
Just so that they could be treated well and perceived well by non-indians
In reality in india they barley mention their caste name to any one outside their
caste
Could you tell a person of one caste apart from another just by looking at them?
Many Sikhs have been attacked by retarded Americans who believe they're Muslims.
No. Caste isn't like race.
Not really
Only in Shithole villages do people still care about castes.
In your normal day to day life, no one goes around asking "hey bro, what caste are you?"
Literally no one does that.
I think the people in your uni that don't sit next to each other are not because they're from different castes but because they're from different regions. When there are two Indians in a foreign country then they stick together because they're Indian and have no other choice. When there's two Punjabis and there's two Mallus, the Punjabis will stick together and the Mallus will stick together because of availability of better option.
They still don't cut their hair, when I was a kid I used to live next to a Sikh temple and would play with the children at a playground, even the boys wear it.
americans are fucking stupid cunts desu
What do they worship? Who is their God?
Waheguru. They believe in a substantial reality that underlies all material objects.
Similar to Brahma in hinduism
One of the Sikh leaders who served at the temple right next door to me was interviewed on CNN because of these brainlet attacks.
To me it seems like defensive, more positive Islam mashed with Hindu view of cosmology.
I like that they care about defending innocents, wheras Muslims pretend to have defense themselves while djihading the middle East and surroundings.
And what the basic views on women, meat, wanking, alcohol, money, etc
It isn't really islam mashed with hinduism.
To me it reads like an eloboration of a certain type of hinduism (qualified monism) with a lot of cleaning up done to it (taking out the demi-gods, the rituals, the caste).
It is a separate religion, butyou can trace some of the ideas in this way.
>women
Equal to men
>meat
No opinion
>wanking
Bad
>alcohol
Bad
>money
Ok to make a living and live comfortably
Bad to be greedy
I am not well enough educated on this to properly state anything, but I mean that Hinduism has that idea of an ultinate source emanating all The different gods etc as representation of parts of itself.
If you slap Monotheism on that world view with the defense Attitude, which I do believe is more islamic than Christian as Christians as a Religion Mostly preached turning the other cheek, you might arrive their.
Or where does the dagger Focus come from?
You're not allowed to eat Halal meat, this was to piss off the Muslims.
So Catholicism but minus alcohol bad?
Sorry, autocorrect/phoneposting slew my post.
How is that more Islamic when Islam is Mormon tier autistic Unitarian.
>The different gods etc as representation of parts of itself.
This is probably heresy but that sounds like the trinity.
Unsure due to every man carrying the title of singh, being Mandate to carry a knoife to defend people with.
Was it Singh?
Which is weird because all my Sikh friends are alcoholics
I meant the armed defense Part being a bit islamic. Not the rest of it.
>being Mandate to carry a knoife to defend people with
They are literally white knights? I've seen loads at the airport, do they get to keep the knife for religious reasons
In the Uk, as far as I know yes.
As i said
Sikhism's monotheism is not like abrahamic monotheism. Its more like indian or philosophical monotheism where you're talkimg about an essence not a deity. They're concept of God's will might be more islamic but i doubt this is absent from hinduism
Similarly in terms of the martial nature. That is more of a result of the history and personality of their Gurus. But even their texts which deal more with war draw more on hindu war myths (which would be more familiar to sikhs) than anything islamic. The thing of not hesitating to act when there is injustice is a very old dharmic idea from the Mahabharat, but it seems not many people were actioning it
Yeah they carry the dagger around with them at all times. In India no one thinks of it as a risky/dangerous thing, just a normal thing to do.
When I was in school, the bus driver was a Sikh and he was a pretty nice guy. Had this really pretty looking dagger on him that he showed me.
>religious people
>following religion
Thanks for explaining, the only islamic thing aside from Monotheism as such was the defense thing. Thanks for clearing this up.
Christianity was defensive too, turn the other cheek became a meme because the meaning was lost over the ages. In Jesus' era turning the other cheek when a Roman soldier hit you was telling him to hit your other cheek with his left hand, which was quite the statement in Roman Society. I'm sad it went from God tier bants from God himself to "lol be a pussy".
I wish christians weren't so meek.
what would be different from Roman if he would've hit a christian with his left hand?
Yeah this is correct. The very inception of Sikhism took place during Islamic pillaging of North West India.
The main reason that people seem to have a misconception that Sikhism = Hinduism + Islam is because of the monotheism part of it. Even though in reality, in Hinduism BrahmÄn is a supreme existence, a consciousness beyond our perception and understanding. I'm not too well versed on Sikhism but it seems their idea of a God is also similar to the Hindu idea such that there is a supreme existence that transcends all barriers of forms, gender, consciousness, realities and is the ultimate state of being in the universe rather than the kind that is described in Abrahamic faiths, i.e as a sentient existence that interacts with his creations directly.
I'm one.
Grandparents migrated from Punjab, Pakistan to Punjab, India post partition.
Basically when they slapped with their right hand it was used back handed, like a master reprimanding a slave, it was reserved for non-equals, it wasn't a fighting blow. But if someone turned their cheek for you to strike with your left hand, it meant you had to do so open handedly, it was a challenge and forcing them to acknoweledge the inequality.
I messed it up, the right hand was used both times, but had to be used back handed for the right cheek, and open handed for the left cheek.
I thought the dagger was ceremonial. Is there any reason they wear turban, or is it because ofbthe long hair? And oht of curiosity sake, can anyone becone a sikh, or s there no conversion and/or prolytesizing.
People forget matt 10:34
The dagger is supposed to be a weapon.
The turban is part of their uniform they were commanded to wear.
Anyone can become a sikh. But they don't actively try to win converts
By the way, Sikhs as Paladins is a /tg/ meme. Or were there any Sikhs Crusades/Djihads that are able to spoil that Image? Only thing I can think of is the Golden Temple debacle.
Sikhs are always on the defense against m*Slims and h*Ndus which is where it came from.
Yikes
Are you a Indian?
