Also, the guy with the French guns last night, please share more of them!

Anyone know anything about the MAS 36's around in 7x62 NATO? I know they are probably viewed as an abomination, but there is no changing the ones that already are like that.

Attached: K31 no3.jpg (3552x2000, 2.92M)

Honestly, I think they command a very similar price to ones chambered in the original caliber. The appeal being that you can actually find ammo that is readily available for them.

They are crap. The drunken monkey's at Century cut the back end of the stock off (to match the cut down and rechambered barrel) without realizing that the plate at the backend of the stock is the hook that holds the stock to the receiver. The gun now has no bedding and you can't hit the broad side of a barn.
No, they don't. At least to people who know about them.

checks out

My 1942-stamped aussie smle only has serials on the bolt handle and side of the "crest" area (the part of the receiver where crests are on mausers). Where are there supposed to be more serials? Selling her and I'm advertising as matching because there is nothing mis-matched but I'm afraid someone knowledgeable about enfields is gonna be like "send me the serial on the butt-plate and nosecap" or some shit like that

I see the (you) farmer plans on harvesting on the weekend.

Attached: 20180208_171015.jpg (3542x1017, 2.17M)

I'm about go buy a yugo 59/66 for $450 but it just occurred to me that these fuckers have a grenade launcher on them. Do I have to register itas a DD or take extra precautions? Or are they all demilled? Florida

SMLE's will have a serial number on the nosecap, under the backsite leaf, and sometimes on the stock and magazine. As an Enfield collector however, I think these numbers matter, but I wouldn't let these parts being mismatched stop me from getting a deal, or a nice rifle. The bolt is the most important one.

Attached: 20180424_182518.jpg (3363x1662, 3.73M)

K my stock is matching but there's no nosecap, leaf or mag. Is this an unmatched rifle?

It's stamped 1984 on the bolt, possible rearsenal/refurbish involved?

t. surrender monkey

post wifeson

I doubt it would be a refurb as late as 1984, and refurb info went on the receiver, not the bolt. Was the 1984 crossed out in any way, could be an old serial number.

I wouldn't consider it unmatched. I hate to admit I dont know a lot about aussie production, but I think they stopped putting serials on minor parts simply to simplify production and field service.

It's on receiver and bolt, not crossed out. I'm fairly certain it's an 8 but could be a 6.
>I wouldn't consider it unmatched. I hate to admit I dont know a lot about aussie production, but I think they stopped putting serials on minor parts simply to simplify production and field service.
Thanks brah, that's exactly what I need.

I know later on they stopped numbering the nose caps, but I don't know when. Magazines weren't numbered.
>It's stamped 1984 on the bolt, possible rearsenal/refurbish involved?
Lithgow used assembly numbers to match the bolt and receiver during production before the gun was serialized. On the part of the receiver that the bolt covers should have the same number.

>On the part of the receiver that the bolt covers should have the same number.
that's it then. Funny that it's "1984"

Dear God I love the SMLE

American guns are boring.

Attached: 20180418_091603.jpg (2774x1576, 2.8M)

Yeah I have to agree with you on that.

Attached: Gew-88-05-35.jpg (1996x619, 675K)

My thoughts exactly.

Oh fuck that sounds pretty bad. I don't see to many of them around so probably why that problem is not too well known. I feel like the bedding issue could be solved though. But if it costs as much as the standard model there is no fucking point.

Attached: M39 VKT 1944 (P1).jpg (4604x2240, 3.71M)

This, but also once you start learning more about American firearms history you learn that for every amazing idea we had, we had an amazingly stupid one as well.

They are boring, but worst, they are costly for arms that are even common.

Attached: IMG_0112.jpg (1487x364, 354K)

Come to leaf land. It's worse.

>post war M1 Garand in "good+" condition is $2200 retail. M1 carbines are a rarity, restricted with normal BBL, 1903's are generally over $1200

We get fucked on burger guns. We are starting to get fucked on surp in general

Attached: 20170917_134910.jpg (4032x3024, 3.35M)

Yeah there's that too. At least they all function well though.

Attached: 20180318_100151.jpg (3636x804, 2.29M)

That's my biggest problem with US surplus, it's all more expensive than most other comparable stuff from other nations (save the Garand, so long as you get it from the CMP). Same problem applies to Nazi surplus, main reason I haven't gotten a 98k yet.

Be strong friendo, at least you can get SVTs for sub-1000 still right?

Not the user you're looking for, but here's a pic of my Berthier M-16.

Attached: IMG_20170717_184758.jpg (1564x1564, 1.4M)

Oh yes, sub $800 for some of the rarest variants too.

Attached: 20171229_103554.jpg (4032x3024, 3.91M)

Hey guys I have a 91/30 with a turned down bolt handle what's the least invasive way I can drill the receiver for a scope so I can get into long range shooting?

It just occurred to me from your picture that berthiers use en blocs. God bless Ferdinand Mannlicher.

Except 1917s are fuggin great.

Attached: 30684BF7-CFD5-42CB-B6E1-3D92851CB02D.jpg (2048x1536, 1.01M)

You slap yourself for thinking of ruining surp like that and go buy a Savage Axis. If you're hellbent on putting a scope on a 5+ MOA rifle you can get an archangel stock and rig up some sidemounted bullshit

Start with a 5/8 drill bit, and drill through the receiver just ahead of the chamber. Thats the important "King" screw point on a scoped mosin. The scope mounts on these are pretty hefty and need to be secured on the top and bottom. Be sure to test fire before you tap it for the mounts, as the Soviets found that if they didnt, the threads could get jammed up when securing the mount! Once that is out of the way, clean the holes and tap as normal, and grab a repro mount from Ebay, and you will be good to go and mount any scope you want!

Refinished-stock Spanish mauser in 7mm, worth it for $260? Pic related

Attached: IMG_4507.JPG.jpg (600x400, 75K)

Looks purdy. I would as long as it wasn't sanded to shit, do the numbers match?

Attached: 20170821_182609.jpg (4032x3024, 3.91M)

LGS has a P14 for $525 and I’m very tempted

I would be too. If it matches and it's in good shape that's a decent deal, especially in Canuckistan. Even better if its Remington or Winchester

Attached: 20170917_132430.jpg (4032x3024, 2.97M)

Are those grips original? I've never seen anything like that.

Pretty sure that guy posts on these threads every once in a while, that scene looks really familiar.

Gonna head up to Pawnman's shop and laugh at some prices, will try and get some pics. Last time I was there the ones that stuck out the most were the run of the mill $500 Type 99s with no mums, but who knows what I'll find this time.

Hello /msg/, I have a question. When I pick up my Garand, my natural shooting stance puts my sight picture at #1 of pic related. I have a hard time being consistent with it though, I can't even really hit steel with it at 200 yards. Do you think I would improve if I put a rubber recoil pad on there, effetively making the length of pull longer, which would put my eye farther from the aperture (pic related sight picture #2)? That way I could use the wings of the front sight to help stay lined up. Or do I just need to git gud? Which is a more correct sight picture? pls help, no bully

Attached: Garand Sight Picture.jpg (960x512, 330K)

No, my grandfather put them on for some reason. I've heard it was a pilot thing, so they could slip a picture inside or something. But I dunno, maybe he was a mall ninja and wanted to be able to see how many rounds he had.

Damn that is sexy as fuck

Where's the best place online to get 6.5 Carcano bullets and casings? Im looking to shoot the 160 grn round nosed the rifle is sighted for. Ive seen a bunch of deals on graf and midway, but I was wondering if you guys had secret place with good deals.

the reloading bench in my garage has cheap ammo

Sweetheart grips
You cut pictures of your girl/kids/pin-ups and put them under clear plexiglass grips.
Oftentimes you also only put the picture on the right side and keep the left clear so you can see how full your magazine is.

Attached: 022a3f9e9f3d12bca19432b347b91e34.jpg (720x540, 46K)

It doesn't matter where you eye is in relation to the sights NEARLY AS IMPORTANT as that you are the same distance from the sight each time you aim.

Consistency is key. I teach my students (AR wise) to touch their nose to the charging handle. It insures that they get the same exact sight picture each time.

Find the equivalent of that for you rifle and stick to it. Perhaps place a cheeky pad on the stock in order to verify your face is in the same spot each time.

Grafs is the best for weird bullets.
Neat.

>Grafs is the best for weird bullets.
This. Although this last week they were sold out of the cheap PPU .264 diameter projectiles for my Type 38 so I had to get the Speer ones from MidwayUSA. Same price, which surprised me.

Highschool friend sold me a carcano he found in his pop's shed for 50 bucks, told me it was sitting there for over 20 years.tips on restoration? (away from home atm so no pics)

Need pics before I would give any advice.

At least my FFL sent his information to the seller.

Yes. I'm lookin to ditch her for a no4 though, just don't love the extra barrel hanging off. Feels like I'm using a sporterized gun

Just shot my M95. I don't know what everyone is talking about them having a strong kick but it wasn't any worse than my M48. Pretty cool straight pull action though.

They're straight up fun to shoot; between the action, the clips, the recoil and the fireballs there's a lot going on when you're shooting.

How does this not cause Rim lock

Agreed, slightly worn metal is super aesthetic.

Attached: M91-30 (1943) crest.jpg (2000x3000, 1.18M)

>God loves the empires sons

Seriously though, the magazine was designed just right, the rims either sit on each other, or seat in front of the one below because of the angle. The odd rimlock can be solved by depressing the cartridges

>everyone is talking about them having a strong kick

Just like they talk about the mosin kicking like a mule. A lot of people who bought these were first time owners or had never shot a full sized rifle. They didn't know how to hold them or shoulder them and got their teeth summarily kicked in. Then spread half truths on forums and group chats

Attached: IMG_20170803_195615.jpg (2426x3690, 1.99M)

Saw a German contract Hungarian Mod 37. Had a mismatched barrel and mag and what looked like some British proof marks on it. Wanted $500, shame as otherwise a nice gun.

What's a good price for an early production Type 99 Arisaka with knurled safety? Is there a difference in price for an intact vs grinded mum? I can get one for 200 dollars.

$200 is a good price as long as it's not bubba'd or refinished.

Attached: IMG_0046.jpg (1940x622, 303K)

How's the rifle itself? I have a reloading set up, so I can make my own 7.7x58mm if need be.

The Type 99 is the best WW2 bolt action rifle in terms of sights and strength of action. Also you'll need to reload because despite literally everyone having one in their closet ammo is rare.

PPU 7.7 Jap loads when

Are you even trying?

Nice, mine was made soon after yours. It's on a 1910 Tula receiver. Did you check your tang date?

Attached: vZ3ukpj[1].jpg (1126x2000, 327K)

Yeah, it's the best bolt action action rifle in terms of everything ever.

I wish PPU would load 7.7, they make the damn brass for it!

I bought some PCI 7.7 and it was the most dangerous shit ever, nothing but hang fires and squibs. Glad I was able to get a refund on the shit.

Enough of the bolt actions. Looking to get some milsurp battle rifles. Should I try to find a Hakim or an FN49?

neither
