Well that's lame, people doggo battle buddies are way better.
What are you're opinions on the model 1897?
the gun, not the gun wielding waifu.
Now, as you probably know, Americans took shotguns into World War Ones, 'cause we're goddamn Americans. We knew what shotguns could do in the trenches and goddamn they did it well. Did you know however, that the Germans actually had the temerity, in the September of 1917 to lodge a formal protest (I do believe I just got overcome with the awesomeness of the shotgun and wrote 1917 instead of 1918) saying that the Winchester '97 is a violation of the Hague conventions and the civilized rules of war. Well, civilized? Maybe. Rules of war? I don't think so. The US government took a look at this and said "You know what, aren't you the bastards that came up with the idea of flamethrowers? Didn't you fuckers invent poison gas and start using it too? You know what, we're not going to stop using shotguns and if you execute any Americans for having shotguns we're going to execute all of our German prisoners too. So how do you fucking like that?" Guess what? Six weeks later the war was over. That's how they liked it.
So basically burgers with scatterguns ended WWI? Wtf I love historical revisionism.
The german bitching was real though, as was them threatening to execute any american soldiers they captured that they found shotgun shells on. American generals retaliated by saying they would execute any german soldiers they captured that were found to be in possession of saw tooth bayonets. The whole violation of Hague convention and inhumane shit was based on them believing that shotguns were only for hunting, therefore it was inhumane to use them on humans, which they were not made to be used on. Flammenwerfers and mustard gas on the other hand... Basically, germans are massive hypocrites that want to have their cake and eat it too.
Do they still sell 1897 trench clones? Cant seem to find any of them
They look cool and are fun, but they are not worth the 2k asking price in my opinion

I'm sure you could find the trench gun hardware for not too much, and install it yourself, or have a gunsmith do it should you be afflicted with a terminal case of butter fingers.
first gun i bought and i love it
>I'm sure you could find the trench gun hardware for not too much, and install it yourself
good luck with that.
I really like them, they're one of my favourite looking designs and they feel really good. Exposed hammer is neato and they're very nice and slim shotguns.
However the biggest gripe for me is their inertia lock, I really don't like inertia locks. In the case of my Chinese clone it straight up locks up when shooting low brass target loads because the inertia lock system was done about as well as Chinks copy anything. Most actual ones I've heard don't have this issue but I'm not a huge fan of inertia locks in anything, these day's they're a liability/annoyance not a feature.
