i wouldnt necessarily call the holster shitty as much as it has a shitty lock up system. the holster does its job. you have to depress a button, that is very close to the trigger, to get the gun out.

It was because he was used to training with a safariland ALS holster, which has a retention holdover very similar to a 1911 safety. He was using a blackhawk that has a trigger finger retention. He thought he was operator, tried to do it fast, and flicked the safety off and slid his finger into the trigger guard on draw. Stupid is as stupid does.
Safariland and striker fire are infinitely superior to single action 19th century technology and full retard TRIGGER PRESS release by the way. If you use either of those things for defense your man card should be revoked.
