Within a week or so I'll no longer be a nogunz. I've been shooting before, though only with my relatives and trying out their firearms. Soon however, I'll be purchasing a nagant rifle from a friend for a decent price and might have some left over for a pistol. Found pic related in a local armory and the price is pretty good for the condition. I live in a pretty alright place, but I may not be here forever, so if anything it will be going towards my existing collection of weapons for the moment, as well as something to practice shooting with in the meantime. Anyone carry one of these regularly?
Anyone carry a mak?
I do and its great....
Yes I own one, no I don't carry it. It's heavy as fuck and impractical, literally no point in buying one unless you're a collector. Sure their great and reliable but so are all other modern pistols that aren't like 6 fucking pounds.
Love mine but if I were you I'd either decide to buy and carry a modern gun or buy a mak and don't bother. Not like you almost died the first 6570 days of your life but if you actually value it you'd protect it with something other than a collector's piece
>heavy as fuck
Fucking pussy
manlet
>because the weight of the gun doesn't exist when it's on a belt
I'm sorry I prefer to not have a weight ruin my dress belts or even sag my gun belts due to how insanely dense the thing is.
But this is still ignoring what a CCW even is. No criminal holding you at gun point is going to compliment your choice of Soviet era officer's dress pistol. If you legitimately want to put yourself at a significant disadvantage in a life or death situation simply because of chad memes then why even bother posting this thread?
>26 oz
>enough to ruin a belt
Stop buying your belts at the dollar store maybe?
I've seen similar statements to what you say and I'm willing to consider them. I'll still buy it and practice and shit with it since in the end, a gun is a gun. When I get more saved up, I'll look for a more modern pistol to CCW.
Yes it is easy to conceal just make sure to oil it well if you're going to be sweating on it, the finish isn't great
I was carying mine for a few years. It's thin enough for CC, grip big enough for comfortable shooting, realiable ass a gun can be. On the downside - reloading is not as practical as modern guns. It's a bit on the heavier side. And someone will say it is "only 9x18". Well, from my point of view, carry mak and enjoy it. (today I'm carying G26.. :) ) On pic mine 1962 russian made..
OP here, how is that tobacco? Saw a sale on it and thought of trying it. Usually stick to my tobacco shop blends 'cause cheaper.
What kind of retard carries an anemic, low capacity, heavy ass gun, with a fairly dogshit double action, when you could guy a LEO trade-in better for carry in every way for a few bucks more?
Maks are cool as shit, fun range toys, and neat pieces for a collection. But they are not good carry pieces unless you've got no modern, conventional options, or have a pistol whipping criteria.
t. Guy who keeps a loaded Mak around for novelty self defense or ironic civil war communist extermination purposes.
A Mak is a lovely handgun
It will outlive its present owners more so then any modern handgun produced in the Obama era by any company! And polymer is for dildos!
>still the official sidearm of half-a-dozen countries
>collector's piece
When you wear it every day in the same spot, yes you dumbass, a literal pound and a half plus of gun will ruin belts. You also for the low low price of extreme weight to size ratio get these amazing traits as well, FREE!
>Terrible 8(+1) capacity!
>A magazine release that requires two, count 'em, TWO hands!
>Garbage sights that make cup and ball look like an RMR!
>No locking system required, straight blowback means only the snappiest recoil!
>A cartridge so anemic that it makes 9mm seem powerful!
>And to top it all off, we over in some backwater Russian gulag made sure the trigger was the heaviest yet simultaneously bloodiest thing you've ever pulled in your entire life, guaranteed!
Still like my mak tho
It is tasty but definitely on the lighter side. If it's a good price I'd go for it
Right! I pull out a brand new 60 year old handgun that hits bulls-eye every time I pull the trigger, stare in amazement the craftsmanship put into such an amazing work of art.. I need to cry now!
It's almost as if the third world isn't eradicated yet.
Don't you have some plane thread to derail with MiG posting or some shit?
Op at the end of the day, do what you want, it's your money and your life. I just think if you value your life enough to carry a gun you might as well go all the way and save the older things for the range. Unbubba'd and fondled plenty yet not struggling to fight guns that are simply more effective, especially if you have the means to buy guns that can reasonably compete.
These, the Makarov is basically obsolete these days. Quite frankly, if you aren't upgrading your gun as often as you upgrade your phone or other electronics to stay on top of current trends, your chances of getting killed if you need to use it increase dramatically.
Lol no
>made sure the trigger was the heaviest yet simultaneously bloodiest thing you've ever pulled in your entire life, guaranteed!
T. Never shot a p64
This just in, bullets kill things just as dead today as they did over 60 years ago.
Hornady xtp makarov rounds are adequate for self defense.
Is there better? Yes of course. But your argument is beyond fucking stupid.
I guess it's our argument now so I'll ask;
Technically a 39" hunting shotgun will kill someone if you shoot them in the right place, right? Sure it will, and it'll do so handily, but does that mean it is in any way technically or even personally relevant?
No.
There is absolutely no situation under the sun in which a Makarov is a reasonable carry piece much less an ideal one, so why risk carrying such a mechanically and metallurgically outdated glorified .380 used to execute starving Soviets instead of an objectively superior in every metric modern hand gun? Even other, older designs like the 1911 or hi power are great guns and better carry pieces, so why not carry those if they're of significantly better quality?
>There is absolutely no situation under the sun in which a Makarov is a reasonable carry piece
This is really wrong though
You'll shot yourself in the nuts with a modern handgun. It's an epidemic...almost close in magnitude as the opioid addiction. Everyone is doing Glock.
who did the finish? is yhe finish chrome or nickle?
Thats a personal issue though. People are fucking idiots nowadays because they're nose deep in cell phones 24/7
