a bubba can buy an 870 express at walmart for $250 and in most places walk out with it the same day because it is a longarm. A low end rifle combo comparatively is going to cost $100 more.. and he doesn't have another $100 in his pocket.

At my range (or the range I used to go to until I discovered a super-ultra-secret public land shooting spot) it's the Mexicans that show up with a clowncar full of kids who then proceed to all cycle through a single 1911 or something of the sort. Not that I have anything against them shooting, it's just a rather amusing spectacle.
