yup, you can feel it, also it will show on the spine whereas fake will not
My bonus
Pic related, I have to keep it covered in oil soaked paper because South Texas weather.
This one shows texture a little better.
Yeah the edges definitely look real you can see the pattern match as it wraps the spine and gets tight
It's pretty obvious once you've seen one. I really just wanted an excuse to re-oil my knives.
Lol you're welcome
If its an artisan knife maker, there will be a stamp on the blade or etching which usually has some kind of info you can follow up further- though as a knife maker myself, I give customers a detailed tag with all the metals used, tested hardness, date made and any other materials used in the construction.
More than likely its a hand made, mass produced knife and all said and done, the fittings are put together ok. Just a light covering of mineral oil once a month or so, probably a polish on the wood every couple of years and it'll see you fine.
Also none of that doesn't necessarily make it less worthy as a tool or should take away an inherent memories of how you got it. I still have an old mora knife from a relative when I was a little 7 year old that was knee high to a grasshopper. Its not great, but that's not the point of such things
Nice. Don't let anyone ree at you about how shit it is. Bonuses are nice.

As a certified knife knut my beef with these knices are in two areas. 1) They are good material and usually good presentation, fit and finish and so on, but they are unsophisticated and clunky for the most part. If I can see the fucking screws holding those beautiful scale and bolsters together anditls as thick as a Havana cigar it's not a gentlemans folder even with VG10 core pattern welded blade and a good polish 2) QC is nonexistent. Edge could be butter soft, it could be like glass. Loose fittings, you name it
Otoh I xan scratch mynknife itch for well under $100 for semi-custom stuff that would go for $3-600 stateside. Dunno how that makes you feel as a knife maker but there it is
