4 sets: average (7-12) low (3-6) average (7-12) high (12+ or until failure)

Yes it does, it literally goes less anabolic if you stop training for a week you brainlet queer. That's the definition of catabolic, you're literally losing gains BY TAKING DAYS OFF.
Muscle protein synthesis doesn't give a shit about muh recovery, it stays up for a little while after intense exercise. Plus overall fitness and lift specific strength depends on constant practise.
