My gym does not have this. There's a 1:1 ratio of barbells to racks. It makes no difference whether or not I OHP in the rack or somewhere else, as the rack is unusable by others in either case.

Is it normal to ohp without a rack? I mean im pressing 85kg 5x5 and i cant imagine cleaning the weight every set
I've never heard of a "free barbell area". I've always done shit like rows and deadlifts just wherever I can find room on the floor. In my old uni gym this wasn't a problem since there was enough space in the weightlifting room, but in the commercial box gym I use now, the have the entire thing packed to the brim. Only area of the floor that's open to do stuff is the area being taken up by the cable crossovers and pullup bars, so you'll just end up pissing everyone off if you set up shop there.
I've never seen anyone outside Jow Forums actually clean the bar for their OHP.
I'll do it, but very rarely. Only if there are no racks and I don't feel like working in. But the thing is, I always OHP either after squatting or front squatting, so I'm always in a rack anyway, and I just continue using it since I'm already there, usually.
Not my fault my shit ymca doesnt have anywhere to do barbell ohp. Dumbells are inferior every way.
