It means youre making it. Doms means youre starting something new
Nothing is wrong.
DOMS comes on when you do something new to exert the body. e.g. Jump up in weight or reps or target a different muscle group
The body is adapting to the stress. Not 100% sure how beneficial it is relative to gains. Maybe you need the muscle confusion which shows up as doms..

I get sick pumps at the gym and I feel like I'm doing things right, but the whole doms situation just made me think I was fucking stuff up...

I also got DOMS when I was starting out, but I quickly stopped getting DOMS and feeling muscle activation, but I still got stretch marks and my pants tore from all the rapid expansion

definitely feel the muscles getting bigger and stronger, but not even a trace of DOMS since the first time.
Glad to hear it's quite normal although I'd like a little burning, it was like a reward, makes you feel like you did real good.
