The state of 4K content

Hdr and (3d glasses) vr went the same way it's just a meme.
The jumps from sub 480 to 720/1080 was amazing but 13+ years on 4k literally doesn't look any different at standard viewing distances
4k gaming especially is absolutely laughable modern aa basically negates the need for any resolution above 2k-3k max
Movies and tv I never bothered with above 1080p and regularly watch 720p fine barely notice a difference
Most normal fags see the bit rate/color space increases in (4k) hdr and think the improvements in picture quality are because of resolution when it's really the codecs/decoder used.

Ai up scaling and denoising in real time is here now and makes raw high res not needed anyway

It took me a pretty while to adopt hd , the tech was mature by then. The same will be for 4k for me.

Original streaming content is almost always 4k/hdr/dolby atmos, and gaming is still one generation away from a 4k standard, though many exclusives for the PS4 pro push 1800p+ native, whil the Xbox equivalent actually is 4k native.

8K comes in 2020
HMDI 2.1 and DP 1.5 support it
