One of the biggest problems with processors today is the fact that they wait most of the time because RAM is so much slower than the CPU. Why do you think we need prediction and why do you think the cache size matters so damn much?
LOL
Difference between CPU and RAM measured in Performances. It's basically like three milks and two butters.
If it's so easy why don't they just make 16GB caches ;)
>here is your 16GB L2 CPU
>that will be NINE NINE NINE NINE NINE NINE NI... bucks
Why not just put the entire disk right next to the CPU with fastest possible memory
Why don't we just slow down our lives so that processors today seem instantaneous.
>Not knowing the basics of Moore's Law and how DRAM latancies and bandwidth wasn't able to keep up hence 85% of CPU dies consisting of various levels of cache
You don't belong here
What do you mean to tell me? That 1980s computers had memory bandwith around 3-4GB/s or that they had 800-1600MB of RAM?
DRAM performance has nothing to do with Moore's Law. SRAM is to hot and expensive to fab in huge capacities.
Figure out a way to make mythical 1T SRAM that only consumes a few joules per MB at reasonable prices and we'll stop using DRAM over night.
because the it would be so massive that any performance improvements caused by large cache would be nullified by latencies
