>2000mg of sodium (preferably Himalayan Pink Salt) max >4700mg of saltless potassium max (NoSalt/LoSalt are high potassium-low sodium salts available in grocery stores or Amazon and the like) Mix these in a liter of water and sip it throughout the day. The apple cider vinegar and lemon are optional but recommended for 10+ day fasts. You can also do this if you feel lightheaded, weak, dizzy, nauseous, etc., on shorter water fasts. Don’t do this while intermittent fasting.
>Won’t I go into starvation mode? No. It only occurs at extremely low body fat (4% or less).
>Can I workout? Yes. But don't overdo it.
>Will (something with calories) break my fast? Yes.
>Can I drink coffee, tea, and diet soda? Or anything with artificial sweeteners? Black, unsweetened coffee and tea - YES! Diet drinks and artificial sweeteners are debatable (continuously)
>Do I need a multivitamin? No. Fat burning provides sufficient vitamins
I mean isn't any pure traditional tea alright so long as you don't add anything to it?
Jacob Carter
On my third day brehs. I guess i feel less dizzy than yesterday? Do I have to finish my snake juice in a day or just drink it to alleviate symptoms?
Nolan Brown
Any black/green/chai etc, as long as it does not contain fruit.
Cameron Anderson
>/fast/ in name field and not in subject >no edition Still better than the previous thread
Wyatt Robinson
If you are running to the bathroom or feel light headed, stop drinking snake juice. If you feel tired as hell drink more snake juice. You don't have to finish it in a day. Also don't drink it just because you feel hungry. Tough it out, day 2-3 is always the worst. Godspeed user.
Hunter Perez
I'm going to see how i feel tomorrow and decide how long i want to do this. I almost won't want to stop because these first few days are so awful.
Julian Ortiz
How do you guys do such long extended fasts? I'm 6 days in and literally crawling up the walls I have no cravings/ hunger yet I am obsessed with food, it's all I think about.
I'm going to break my fast tomorrow and resume again on Monday any advice how to do a month long fast?
Ayden Powell
Don't break it, go for as long as possible. Trust me it's far worse to break the fast just to restart a few days later. I get the same food obsession thoughts. Try to distract yourself with activity. For me I either go for a walk, or I play some video games. If the wife is home I bone her. I'm on day 3, not planning to break it until day 20. Drink your snake juice.
Jonathan Edwards
I've been doing that man, ive gone to the cinema 8 times this week video games all other times yet i cant keep my mind of fixating about food
Jaxon Carter
how the hell do you boys do 20 to 40 day fasts?! I only got to around 5 before caving in
Hudson Davis
It sucks my dude, but you can make it. I also take 2 tbsp of apple cider vinegar with 1/2 tsp of baking soda mixed in daily. It helps me a lot. If you try it make sure the baking soda completely dissolves in it otherwise you risk messing up your teeth. Something to do with the PH balance. I hope this helps. If you really can't make the fast you can break it, but you will probably regret it later. Good luck.
Nolan Flores

thanks for the support bud but im calling it tomorrow, all the best with your 20 day run
Oliver Cook
what should I eat after two or three days of snake juice diet? should I eat one meal then go straight back on the diet, or eat normally for the whole day?
Lincoln Cook
You can eat normally if it's just a few days. You will get a stomach ache if you eat too much, so don't worry about overeating. If it's over 5 days you can break it with some fermented veggies like pickles or kimchi. If you don't like those you can try watermelon but personally I would avoid the sugar.
Julian Jenkins
If I'm lifting, is breaking the snake juice fast with meat fine? Nothing big, just a small homemade burger for example
Charles Bennett
I've broken fasts with all kinds of food, you will get a stomach ache most likely but you will be fine.
Austin King
Thanks pham
Ryder Ward
can I do unsweetened yogurt for the fermented part? like I hate most fermented vegetables
Jayden Ortiz
I've never tried yogurt, avoiding dairy seems to expedite weight loss though. You can eat pretty much anything, just eat very little at the start and listen to your body.
When do I weigh myself? Every morning after I wake up? After taking a shit?
Carson Jones
Yes, been waiting for the return of /fast/. I get really bad restless leg syndrome on day 2 of a fast so I decided to try snake juice. Couldn't find NoSalt so I just got potassium tablets. I make an electrolyte cocktail of 1 potassium tab, a table spoon of magnesium bisglycinate, baking soda, and pink himalayan rock salt. I've also got some apple cider vinegar. Trying to go for at least 3 days, will go longer depending on how I feel. Is there anything else I should look out for, or any advice for my first >60 hour fast?
Jaxon Adams
potassium tablets are in usually 100mg doses, snake juice 2L contains over 1000mg. restless legs or cramping usually indicates low potassium. If you cannot get the no-salt, on a refeed eat an avocado or two to buffer your potassium stores.
I don't take the baking soda as I find i feel unwell while taking it, personal preference.
Connor Clark
Preferably both (wake up, take a shit, weigh in). However, go more by looks than by weight. Chances are you've miscalculated your goal weight. I know I did.
Unwell how? Care to elaborate on your symptoms? I wanna know if some of the uncomfortable side effects I feel are from the baking soda and not the high sodium in general.
Cooper Ward
Not going to continue the long fasts after immediately after I refeed, I do IF every day, usually bounce between OMAD/20:4. should I just add more potassium tabs if I find the RLS getting bad?
Benjamin Foster
Recommended, but avoid going over 3000mg within a 12hr period of potassium.
Or if you are doing OMAD, just eat veggies ;)
Mason Foster
Yeah, I usually do an omelette w/ pemeal bacon, beef, mushrooms, jalapenos, spinach and cheese. Followed by a quest bar, and a smoothie w/ coconut milk, hemp hearts, protein, almond butter, spinach, kale, a full avocado, a raw egg, MCT oil, stevia, and some salt, (recommend trying it, tastes like cake batter). I'm doing the long fast to get myself back into ketosis after cheat(ish) day, (had some ice cream), for discipline, and to speed up the cut.
Joseph Collins
thats a big meal :). chk the carb content of the bars, most of them are rubbish.
Brayden Watson
do you go by net carbs (4gs) or actual carbs (20gs), I've been eating them for like a week and I've been in keto the whole time.
Levi Sullivan
if it works, then thats good ;) no sense over complicating fasting. Important part as always is time spent in ketosis.
Carter Wright
How much of a fuckup am I for eating 40 nugs after fasting?
Jack Butler
At least it's mostly protein. Far better than a mountain of rice or pasta.
Jayden Bell
Crossposting from /fat/ Is 19:5 considered fasting? sometimes I do 18:6 if I'm busy and can't have lunch exactly 5 hours after breakfast
> Mostly protein Jesus fuck no. Nuggets aren't made from chicken breast, they're made from leftover shit made into a pulp and molded after, so they're supper fatty. A good nugget will have around 1:1 fat/protein ratio which is fucking SHIT, AND THAT'S FOR A QUALITY NUGGET NOT MCSHIT. Also the crunchy layer is just bread fried in oil so you're looking at a shitload of carbs. If you're craving shit food at least get chicken tendies or crunchy chicken breast instead of nuggets
Elijah Cook
Look I know it's crap food, but still better than some other options. I was just trying to make the poor user feel less shit. Also dietary fat is not bad for you.
Parker Watson
16:8 is not fasting, 24hrs is barely qualifying.
If you are obese, consider 14 day+. Pop over the discord and start reading here:
Nevermind I only ate 20 I have a smaller stomach now I'll eat better quality food

All tripfags should be banned. I’m glad you got so butthurt over the last thread to develop that queer trip. Stay fat and miserable instead of lifting weights and learning self control, kids.
William Sullivan
Isn't fasting one of the highest forms of self control? You're literally fighting one of your most basic animal instincts.

Why not just use a product like "Sqwincher Lite Mixed Berry" in place of Snake Juice? It's a zero calorie electrolyte replenishing drink and it sure as shit tastes better than weird salty water.
Could someone poke holes into why that would be a bad idea that isn't "muh added colours" and have actual scientific backing that IF the sweetener in it caused an insulin reaction that it'd be negative for the fast? It's sweetened with sucralose, IDK if that's one of the insulin triggering ones or not.
Joseph Ortiz
It's cheaper and easily accessible that's why I do it
Joshua Ramirez
I don't doubt it, and I would even suggest that the bulk of a persons intake on the snake diet should still be Snake Juice, but I want to know if throwing in one of these packets that is intended for 500ml into the 2 litre mixture of Snake Juice (plus 200-300 extra ML to balance the electrolytes I guess) would be negative in any way to the process. I feel like even a small amount of added flavor would increase the palatability a lot.
Cooper Jones
This seems genuinely productive. I have some baking soda and himalayan pink rock salt lying around; is there an easy or common way to source the rest?
I’m going to attempt this tomorrow. I estimate I’m around 20-25%bf. Genetically quite muscular, but that leads me to my next question: Will I lose much muscle mass? If so, is there a recommended way to retain it throughout?
Finally, what’s the average Jow Forumsizens fast duration? I’m thinking of attempting between 5 and 10 days, but I’d love to hear some anecdotes.

Ofc. I meant more for the potassium/magnesium if they could be found or substituted via items found in the average kitchen rather than go straight to the online shopping option

How much body fat did you lose?
Blake Rogers
Sweet = insulin spike
Maybe it won't effect your ketosis, but I'm not going to catablolize any more muscle than is absolutely necessary. Keeping insulin as low as possible, as long as possible seems to be the best way to do it.
Also best way to kick your addictions, your psychological addiction to food, and decrease your leptin and insulin resistance.
But sure, if you want to add sweet shit to your water, do whatever makes you happy.
Leo Young
i miss grandpa omaw
Jace Powell
>Sweet = insulin spike
Are our bodies really so stupid and non adaptive that they don't eventually learn that a particular substance doesn't require an insulin boost?
Jayden Brown
Am I the only one getting a noticeable mood elevating effect from IF? It diminishes but is still there when I break my fast.
Caleb Brown
Sucralose doesn't spike insulin.
>Sucralose activates the sweet receptors in taste buds, and some in vitro studies have shown that sucralose can stimulate the release of incretin hormones, which increase the secretion of insulin, via the sweet taste receptors in enteroendocrine cells (located in the gut). An in vivo study of sucralose infusions into the gut, however, showed that it does not stimulate the incretin hormones GLP-1 or GIP, does not release insulin, and does not slow gastric emptying.
>Another in vivo study, this time using healthy human subjects, got similar results: oral dosing of sucralose did not induce a cephalic insulin response, nor did it affect GLP-1. Not even appetite was affected.
>The commercial version of sucralose, Splenda, is cut with dextrose as a bulking agent. Dextrose is essentially glucose, which certainly elicits an insulin response, so there’s definitely the potential for a slight insulin response to Splenda, but there’s not much if any evidence that sucralose has an independent in vivo effect on insulin.
>Recently, a review of in vivo studies concluded that “low-energy sweeteners” do not have any of the effects on insulin, appetite, or blood glucose predicted by “in vitro, in situ, or knockout studies in animals.” As far as the clinical studies go, I think I’d have to agree. Am I going to use the stuff? No; there are other potential negative effects to artificial sweetener usage, including gut flora disturbances, the promotion of psychological dependencies on sweets, and long term safety issues, but I think it’s important to be clear on where the science lies. So far as I can tell, according to the literature there isn’t an appreciable insulin effect from most sweeteners.
Grayson Bell
Who are you quoting?
Without the details of the studies, this doesn't mean a whole lot. In vitro studies are models, but are basically useless here, we need to see how an organism reacts to a substance, not how reagents in a test tube behave. And gut infusions are equally useless, unless you plan on infusing sucralose directly into your gut and bypassing your taste buds.
Curious about that last singular study though. If it took place by feeding otherwise fasted humans a meaningful serving of sucralose, it could be really interesting.
Brody Hall
here comes the artificial sweetener lobbyist in my /fast/ general
Any food, sweet or otherwise will cause your insulin to rise. Does not matter if it's table sugar or a block of marbled beef. The degree of the rise is conditional to different factors, but it will always rise to some extent.
Gabriel Ortiz
didn't you read what I pasted, though?
Gabriel Young
I did, but I don't necessarily trust that study. Insulin does rise no matter what you put in your body. That's all I was saying. Sucralose is a food, so it would act the same no?
Leo Sullivan
>Sucralose is a food, so it would act the same no?
Perhaps, if that was the case though, the volume of the "food" is so infinitesimally small relative to what humans consume that IF it does have an effect it has to be incredibly small.
We're talking about far less than 1 gram for the average artificially sweetened beverage.
Less than 10% of a gram, on average, depending on the beverage. Sucralose sweetened soda is 4% of one gram.
Yeah yeah, a tenth of a gram of arsenic in the blood stream would be deadly, but these substances have been studied thoroughly.

omad is considered the bare minimum of fasting, since autophagy, along with the other goodness, begins at 18-20 hours so you're getting the the tip of the fasting benefits at the entry point.
after that, the next level is considered 36-48 wet (or dry if you're at that point) wet fasting (fasting approved liquids only). with 36-48hrs, you get a solid time frame of autophagy maintenance. from my own research, 16/8 or 18/6 (better since you get lunch at noon and dinner at 6) gets you in the proper mindset of what to expect. if thats no problem for you, you move to omad for however long you need, till you feel you can move on to higher levels of fasting.
don't just jump in and go "herpaderp i can 72hr fast no sweat". not many people have the discipline to just go cold turkey as such. but hey, im just a user on a mongolian yak image board, you do you.
Kayden Foster
Anybody? Is Jow Forums dead these days?
Jaxon Harris
dead due to fasting and starvation
Aiden Taylor
You could try reading the thread, reading archived threads, checking out the videos in the OP, or googling.
It would be a waste of time to answer your questions. Put a little bit of effort in and do some research.

How do you guys cope with bowel movements? I ate 3 times this week (48h fast)and i went to the bathroom only once

Do we have to maintain the same window?
For example, my eating window is 2PM-10PM, but today I drank a shake at 1 AM and am planning to not eat my next meal until 5PM tomorrow

maintain the fasting window or extend. the eating window should be reduced as much as possible

How much new recipe snake juice should I aim for daily?
Ryan Anderson
RIP
or reading the sticky yes, yes I know. Some questions are faster answered than researched
Angel Parker
Depends completely on how much you sweat, how big you are, and generally what your needs are.
I was at 2lt/day (a bit more sodium and potassium than the recipe in the OP) when I was training Judo during the hot Greek summer.
Now it's exams time and I sit on my ass all day doing pushups and pullups every now and then, if I drink more than 1lt snake juice for the whole day I get the runs.
For now, I just put 1/4tsp pink salt, 1/4tsp potassium salt, and 1/4 tsp baking soda in a big (>300ml) glass with water and drink it slowly in the morning, and then drink water for the rest of the day.
General guidelines to salt intake: >feel weak (in the tired sense) add sodium >get cramps add potassium >feel lightheaded or weak (not in the tired sense but in the weak legs sense)/get diarrhea cut back on salts or stop entirely, drink more water
Jeremiah Williams
Also, if you're not fat adapted yet (if you haven't been on keto for a while) you're going to feel weak and/or have brain fog.
To combat brain fog, put 1tbsp MCT oil (or butter if you don't have MCT oil) in your coffee/tea. What that does is it provides easy ketones that your body can use for energy (in this stage, your body can't really use ketones made from your fat efficiently, I don't remember exactly why they're different) while having 0 effect on insulin.
Gabriel Hernandez
If you are new to fasting, I would suggest at the bare minimum, Cole's standard 2L. When I first started fasting, I had no clue what the fuck I was doing, and my body had a shit time adapting to it. I was under constant brain-fog and just general confusion/anxiety. Your body does get used to fasting overtime, but the first bit can be tough, so be sure to get in your electrolytes.
Carson Mitchell
Were you supposed to drink more water if you get diharera and more salts if you get headaches or the other way around?
Aaron Sullivan
15, from 174 to 159, though I did cardio in conjunction
Lincoln Phillips
Cole's standard 2lt is kind of on the high end if you don't sweat a lot.
More water if you get diarrhea. Basically it happens because you have too much sodium so your body expels it and you get dehydrated. see this

Nicotine patches as a crutch to help reduce cravings y/n?
Thomas Myers
It's more complicated than that.
Can you take some time off? If you can take 3-4 days off then fuck nicotine patches, fast and drink 2tbsp apple cider vinegar every day, take a cold shower every morning, and go for long walks/runs/bike rides. Those first days are gonna fucking suck but with fasting you'll clear your body way better and the physical cravings will disappear. The mental cravings will go on, especially because you have tied cigarettes to taking a break and to having something to do, but you can overcome them - especially if you fast.
If you are in a high stress environment (work/life where you can't take time off) then I guess you can try nicotine patches if you can't go cold turkey. But at least try it without them first imo.
